Punk’s value

With the latest episode, at what point does Punk become diminishing returns? Obviously, he's popular but can you really attribute much of the recent success to him? Beyond Chicago, when does all this unwanted bs become more trouble than it's worth?
I started out thinking that Jungle Jack was the one mostly at fault, but we're now something like 4 people deep into the CM Punk tantrum and I'm starting to think that maybe it's the other guy who's the asshole. I never thought he was worth bringing back in the first place and I think even moreso now that they should cut bait with him and move on.
