adding logic to big spots
By Scott Keith on August 18, 2023
Good morning, Scott –
I felt like yelling at some clouds today, and to complain about how the impact of big moves are being diminished more than ever. In your All-Star Wrestling review, Greg Valentine nearly killed Pedro Morales with a suplex on the floor. Now, that's just a picture-in-picture
spot before Orange Cassidy kicks out at two.
I thought that WWE/NXT did a heck of a job selling Kevin Owens's powerbomb on the apron on Sami Zayn as a MDK move – but that was definitely in the minority lately. Now you have Stu Fucking Grayson kicking out after a triple spike piledriver on the floor. Darby's
new guy gets assaulted by Swerve and is out the next week like nothing happened.
There needs to be a more universal logic for big moves to sell the impact of big moves or injuries, like:
Beat down followed by being laid out through the announce table? 1-2 weeks off of TV
Con-chairto? 2 weeks to a month.
Head crushed by steel steps? 2-4 weeks off
Apron bomb? 2-3 weeks
Ran over by a car? 4 weeks to 3 months.
Set on fire? 1-4 weeks
Shakes fist at the cumulonimbus overhead
Time to call Commissioner Punk and have those moves banned from Collision!
