What's a good example of someone who had an extended career, who wasn't a mark for themselves, didn't hate (or love) the business, turned up day-in-day-out, did the job (no pun intended) and retired with respect and dignity?
Marc Mero! He got out without suffering any life threatening injuries and has made a good life for himself outside of the business. You could say that a decade wasn't really “extended” but he had a good run.
I'd also go with Ted Dibiase and Mike Rotundo, both of whom knew their roles and never had people saying bad things about them.
