The Worst Timing in wrestling
By Scott Keith on July 9, 2023
We all know the botched ending in Sid/Hogan/Shango at WM8. This week there was a lot of posts of Goldberg defeating Hogan 25 years ago. And as great as that moment was, they had way too much going on both for the crowd and on tv:
-First Hogan drops two Legdrops without much buildup, which draws little reaction from the crowd in terms of thinking he might win.
-Then here comes Curt Henning strolling down like he just entered an Applebees and just looks out of place to the match thats going on.
-THEN here comes DDP & Malone right behind, we're not even giving the crowd a chance to react in time to anything now.
-Cutter to Henning to a great pop
-Camera cuts to Goldberg already up ready to spear but most of the audience is still watching Malone & DDP.
-Thankfully they take their time with the Jackhammer to let the crowd fully invest in whats about to happen.
Not as bad as WM8 and an actual finish, but still the whole thing is just a mess of timing and camera work as well.
Those two really stand out to me. Is there other examples that were very glaring and obvious to the big match happening?
Best wishes!
