Not much of a Collision
By Scott Keith on July 5, 2023
So we are three weeks into Collision and the ratings are already at Rampage level. I think they have done a good job at making it feel like a different show in some ways, especially trying to showcase some different people. But it already seems missable, and part of keeping people separate is the Collision roster doesn't seem strong enough to not really have any tie in with Dynamite weekly. Plus the first 3 episodes haven't really ended with any hooks, so outside of some great weekly wrestling, there is nothing that makes you really want to see the next show. AEW as a whole is in dire need of some hot angles, but it seems like Collision really needs something or it's gonna lose Tony's attention real quick. I don't think you can just survive off CM punk matches to pop ratings, because even before the Brawl his drawing power was dying off. How long til this show becomes Sat Night Elevation and we back to trying to get Punk/Elite to co-exist on Dynamite? Running three tournaments at the same time seems like the only fresh idea Tony has. At least showcase some more women.
