Giant Killer

I was thinking this reading your Guilty As Charged 2000 review
Do you think a promotion could ever run with a smaller Giant Killer wrestler for a prolonged period of time or do you think that gimmick has a shelf life before fans turn on it?
Obviously Spike Dudley mostly got away with it in ECW, but he wasn’t ever really a contender for singles titles until 2000 and that was mostly down to lack of roster depth
If you think about Rey Jr in WCW or WWE, he might pick up a win or two but the big blokes would usually end up crushing him in the end and he’d be moved back into the mid card
What are your thoughts?

You can’t bribe me with coffee. I don’t even drink it, I get my caffeine from energy drinks. I haven’t set foot in a Timmies in years. So Winnipeg can continue to suck it.

And yeah, the giant killer thing inevitably has a shelf life because eventually the killer becomes the one who needs to be killed. You can only be an underdog for so long until you’re just a dog.
