Would you add an additonal AEW ppv?

By Scott Keith on December 27, 2022

As someone who sees monthly ppvs watering down the storylines, I do see bi-monthly, 6 max, a year to be a pretty ideal spot to cater your storyline and feuds with. Nxt Takeovers pulled these off, and the tv/network time in between, masterfully. (also kept them at 2-2.5 hrs max)

With that being said, the gap between the recent All Out and Revolution is going to be nearly 4 months! I am all for long term story telling but AEW does this better with only certain talents than others. They have a track record of losing some steam between the big shows on feuds. Jungle Boy & Christian, Acclaimed & Swerve in our Glory, hell even MJF & Punk peaked prior to the ppv showdown. I want to see Moxley & Hangman finally square off, but are we ready for 3 more months of pull apart brawls? And if they blow if off on tv, then you gotta hotshot a feud for each that may not get the time it needs come Revolution.

With Forbidden Door we are at 5. Do you get one in January/early February? Or is it more cost-effective or business smart to lean more towards tv cable special like Grand Slam?

I think they’re OK where they are, but what they desperately need is a revamp of Rampage and the Dark shows to give people something to do between shows and keep feuds going. It often feels lately like they cruise between PPVs and then announce seven matches on the Rampage before the show. They have another three hours of TV time they could be using instead of just having Skye Blue job over and over.
