MJF/Punk/FTR/Bucks
By Scott Keith on July 9, 2022
Instead of doing an interim champion for Punk and writing out MJF after doing a poor man's “pipe bomb” promo, they should have done the following:
MJF doesn't come out to do a promo after Double Or Nothing 2022. He instead makes a “statement” by running over Adam Cole, Britt Baker, and the rest of the Undisputed Era outside the arena and leaves a note on Adam Cole's bloody body that he's “done playing Mr Nice Guy”. As everyone sees the carnage, a badly injured Britt Baker identifies that it was the Young Bucks car that MJF drove and that the four were lured out by the Bucks when MJF rammed them.
The following week, instead of announcing his injury, Punk and FTR are doing a regular promo and out comes MJF who states that hes' tired of being ignored and he's going to “power flex” to make Khan know that he's not going to be trifled with….
The lights go out and when they come back on, FTR's been knocked down and the Bucks are standing over them and with MJF, they BRUTALIZE Punk and basically cause the injury that will write out CM Punk for a while. FTR are handcuffed to the ring ropes so they can't help Punk and are helpless to stop the Bucks from hurting him. After Punk is brutalized, MJF takes the world title and declares himself champion as “right of conquest” and the Bucks and MJF flee.
This gives us MJF as the “usurper” champion as he THEN starts badmouthing Khan and points out that he's so great that notorious asskissers the Young Bucks even know which way the wind is blowing and have abandoned Kenny Omega and Adam Cole to leech off of MJF as his new henchmen. You then have Khan throwing every single babyface in AEW at MJF to try and reclaim the belt from him but MJF beats everyone.
Meanwhile the FTR/Bucks feud explodes though with an inversion: all the dirty behind the scenes things the Bucks have done to try and destroy FTR come out with FTR explicitly branding the Bucks as dirty, spineless Honky Tonk Man cowards who have been ducking them and bad mouthing them to Khan to poison him against FTR and FTR explicitly stating “damn right we have!” and after beating Jurassic Express for the world titles, explicitly refusing to wrestle FTR again and MJF joining in by claiming the Bucks are better henchmen than FTR ever were.
This lets Khan push MJF to the top and give him a “title reign” while building towards a big rematch with Punk when Punk comes back. Meanwhile, in the meantime, they can finally put the Bucks out to pasture as after a couple of months chasing the Bucks, FTR finally wins their third match and the Bucks can be sent off into the Phantom Zone with the other guys phased out of AEW and become the face of tag team wrestling in AEW.

I knew this was leading to the Young Bucks getting written out of AEW by the end. You didn't disappoint, Jesse!
