What do you think of the Interim designation?

I found it interesting that Punk gets to hold onto the title, and there will be an Interim title and an eventual reunification deal.

Since I was raised on WWF/WWE, I expected Punk to be stripped, and then given a shot down the line. I don't think Vince ever has had an Interim champion- if someone's hurt, they give up the belt.

It's neat to think about, though. What if, instead of Shawn losing his smile, he held the belt until he came back, and they had instead went the interim route?
Bottom line is this- do you think WWE should consider trying the Interim idea the next time they run into an injury situation? Or should they stick to the idea that if you can't defend the belt, you have to relinquish it?

I'm old school. If you can't defend it within 30 days, give it up and let someone else have it, because you can always book a rematch later.
