Hangman’s leave of absence

Has anyone in wrestling ever taken a leave of absence (paternity break) at a time when they were a too babyface at a worse time than Hangman. I thought the logical conclusion was he’d return to help the Dark Order in Rochester for Brodie, but no. Now Danielson is feuding with Omega, Punk is there, Adam Cole is getting thunderous ovations. I still think hangman is a top babyface and should dethrone Kenny. But doesn’t he need to come back soon or risk blowing this huge story/push?
I heard he’s coming back for All Out to face Omega.
