Working hard or hardly working?

In honor of the beginning AEW's slow death starting today with the move to TBS (it will be dead by memorial day…2022) I can't help but point the finger at Cody. Even though I agree with Vince that he is nothing more than high level mid card guy AEW should of really leaned into trying to make him the face of the brand. There would be no AEW without him. Jericho, Omega, and Bucks played a huge part but Cody lit the match. While some might say he is a major player there it's been for all for the wrong reasons and I think has brought a negative impact to the company
First, going thru with the stipulation 3 months into their existence that he could never challenge for the heavyweight title was a big mistake. Your top 3 biggest star and you paint yourself into that corner that quick is not long term storytelling it's ridiculous. Then the hate started because even though he can't challenge he is constantly in the top 5 rankings the whole time, which made no sense. I feel like they just figured Cody is a star regardless but that's not how it works. Yes he had a tiny bit of success acting and was a cohost of lame competition show, but I don't think that gained them that much more viewers. Maybe if he hadn't skipped the step of becoming a hugely popular champ and truly establishing himself as a ratings draw in wrestling first the other two things would of had bigger impact.
Then you have the TNT title reign which was ok but I still think its been used better for other up and coming acts like Darby. Hangman or MJF who would of been a better first champ as well, seemed like a downgrade for cody. Plus he was selling hard for scrubs and people not even signed to company each week, which just made him look even weaker. It justed seemed like a vanity title reign. Plus the stupid chairs shots, neck tattoo, and no selling everything in shaq match haven't help earn him much praise either.
But the biggest FU is the never ending push of his friends and wife, making him look like the person he never wanted to be and took shots at, HHH. Like Brandi is terrible, stop trying to make her a thing. And the black hole of charisma QT getting soo much tv time is an insult. Its obvious why that is happening and I think it just puts more of a stink on him. I def think his star dimmed significantly since AEW started. Even in his matches, it's like is he a heel, is he a babyface, no one knows? Now everyone is confused, which is playing out in this lame US vs the world angle where he got a ton of hate for that cringe promo. Poor QT just has to stand there while Ogogo just trashes America to try to get bad guy heat. Did QT pull a Sgt Slaughter angle and turn on America or something that I missed? Will Cody be dead by Labor Day? Tune into the greatest episode of Dynamite Wednesday since last week and the week before to find out!
I agree that the Ogogo feud has been cringe on the level that Cody is trying to take it, but Ogogo is awesome in the role he's playing and has managed to overcome it by just punching dudes out and taking no shit thus far, and I respect that. Also, Brandi might be terrible, but have you SEEN her? She can stay on TV.
