In the dark side of the ring episode on Montreal, Cornette says Vince told everyone leading up to Survivor Series that Bret was finishing up on that show. But Bret had already committed to being on RAW the next night to give up the belt, and Bret’s deal didn’t
even expire til December.
So is that retro spin, or was Vince just convinced in his own mind that Survivor Series was it and they couldn’t do anything with Bret after that, even before they came up with the screw job idea?
Vince is full of shit. Hot take, I know.
