Greatest Stories Ever Told

By Scott Keith on September 28, 2020

Hi Scott, piggybacking off an earlier post about WWE storytelling, a story has five basic but important elements. These five components are: the characters, the setting, the plot, the conflict, and the resolution. To you, what have been the matches and/or angles that achieved this the best? I believe Warrior-Savage (and really Savage’s whole character arc), Tully-Magnum, Mick Foley’s odyssey (the greatest rags to riches wrestling story ever?), the Megapowers, the HTM’s IC title reign, and Bret-Austin (another great one because parts of those matches ended up in the Austin-Rock trilogy)to be the gold standards. I know there’s a lot more, but those come to mind for me.
I would agree strongly with Randy Savage's whole arc being probably the best start-to-finish story that anyone has told in wrestling. I think if we want to branch out from the usual suspects, you could also include something like DDP's journey through WCW as well.
