Wrestling’s Supreme Court
By Scott Keith on August 18, 2020
Hey Scott,
Do you think a “Supreme Court” would work in wrestling instead of an authority figure. For example, take nine retired legends: Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart, Mick Foley, Steve Austin, Ricky Steamboat, Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker.
If Vince McMahon or Triple H plays “President” — then these nine guys could serve as the checks and balances – or they could decide who wrestles who, who's the best, deciding if decisions stand or need to be overturned.
Two things it accomplishes. 1: It allows legends to appear on TV in an organic way so fans can pop for their entrances and all that. 2. If a guy like Steamboat steps down, it would allow a heel to want to replace him with a more heel-ish legend (think Edge, HHH, Jake Roberts, Kurt Angle or CM Punk.) So the court could be used to add stakes, too — wrestlers would want the court to act on their behalf so they'd be lobbying to stack the deck in their favor.
Thoughts?
Nothing the kids love more than a wrestling-based examination of the US judiciary system! Don't forget to book a legislative branch as well.
It's gonna be a nope from here, sorry.
