Rick Steiner – World Champion?

Hey Scott I was looking at a recent Sid interview and he said Rick was the one who was originally supposed to be in the match with Flair instead of Scott and was supposed to win. He also said Rick was a better athlete and wrestler then Scott. Any truth to the title rumor? And do you agree about Rick being better?

Um, no. To both. There WERE a couple of occasions where Rick almost got the belt, once in 88 famously as a spiteful move by Dusty and then possibly at the end of 1991 against Luger because Lex was running out of dates on his contract. But that second one is a BIG stretch. Maybe Sid was conflating one of those with the Scott Steiner Clash match against Flair?
