Road to Wrestlemania 2000

Hey Scott,
Was what we got between Rumble and Mania 2000 (Rock “cheating” to win the Rumble, Big Show winning the title shot, and all the McMahon nonsense and resulting 4 way match) the original plan, or did Big Show and Rock screw up the Rumble finish necessitating a new plan? I couldn't find anything saying it was botched, but that has always struck me as such a bizarre way for your new undisputed number one babyface to win the Mania title shot.
No botch, that’s what they wanted. The only major change is that Jericho was originally in advertising in the spot later given to Mick Foley. WM2000 was a pretty rare whiff in a year full of home runs, in fact.
