WWF Superstars – December 10th, 1994

By Brian Bayless on March 21, 2020

December 10, 1994

From the Fernwood Resort in Bushkill, PA

Your hosts are Vince McMahon and Jerry “The King” Lawler

We see Jeff Jarrett on the video wall. He is standing in the middle of the Las Vegas strip and talks up his country music signing and how every top executive is vying for his services. Jarrett then talks about everyone on his tour covering him and who will win the “Double J Sweepstakes.” They’re really putting over how Jarrett is now billed from Vegas which means he is in line for a bigger push.

Razor Ramon comes down the aisle for his match. The hosts ask him about what Jarrett had said earlier and Razor makes a Publishing Clearing House reference about the Double J Sweepstakes then points down at the Intercontinental Title belt to say that he has already won. Razor then tells Jarrett “don’t sing it, bring it” before mocking Jarrett’s strut. With the first two segments on the show the Razor/Jarrett feud will seemingly become more intense.

Razor Ramon vs. Chris Hamrick

Vince mentions Jarrett having a “roadie” in his corner, who we saw on RAW. Razor pushes around Hamrick then chops him in the corner. Razor now catches Hamrick with a fallaway slam as Vince puts over Razor’s win at Survivor Series. Razor now toys with Hamrick as Lawler cracks jokes about Razor’s greasy hair. Razor then hits a super back suplex before the Razor’s Edge gets the win (3:05). Vince then plugs Razor vs. Jarrett as part of the Holiday Wish tour.

Thoughts: Again, more hype for Razor/Jarrett. And, we learn that the man in Jarrett’s corner from RAW in is now being referred to as a roadie.

WWF Live Event News with Charlie Minn. He hypes the Holiday Wish Tour and how the host, “Doc Holiday” will be handing t-shirts to the fans. We will learn about a new Doc in the WWF soon enough. Matches include: Wink & Pink vs. Queazy & Cheezy, Aldo Montoya vs. Steven Dunn, Duke Droese vs. Timothy Well, Bob Holly vs. Henry Godwinn, Alundra Blayze vs. Bull Nakano for the Women’s Title, Lex Luger & British Bulldog vs. Bam Bam Bigelow & King Kong Bundy, Undertaker vs. IRS, Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart in a “No Holds Barred” match ,and Diesel vs. Bob Backlund w/ Shawn Michaels for the World Title. Plus, Shawn will also conduct the “Heartbreak Hotel.” Man, there are some sad matches on this card.

And now, we get the brackets for the Tag Team Tournament. And here it is:

Bam Bam Bigelow & Tatanka vs. Men on a Mission

Headshrinkers vs. Jim Neidhart & Owen Hart

Heavenly Bodies vs. The Bushwhackers

Smoking Gunns vs. Well Dunn

The big surprise here is how 1-2-3 Kid & Aldo Montoya are not part of the tourney given the hype they’ve been getting on commentary the past few weeks after defeating the Heavenly Bodies. Also, the fact they went with Bigelow & Tatanka instead of Bigelow & Bundy (Given that has been teased on TV and how they are teaming on house shows) but we will see why this was the case in the coming weeks. Also, it was reported in the “Wrestling Observer Newsletter” that there were talks of Doug Furnas & Dan Kroffat coming in for the tournament but that did not happen. Although, those two eventually would make it into the company in a couple of years.

Smoking Gunns vs. Black Phantom & Ray Hudson

The Gunns work over Phantom to start. Lawler makes fun of The Gunns for dressing like cowboys as adults. Phantom fights back and hits Billy with a bulldog. Hudson tags in and Billy takes him down with ease then hits a suplex. The announcers talk about The Gunns vs. Well Dunn tournament match as The Gunns stay in control until they put Hudson away with the Sidewinder (3:01).

Thoughts: Some hype for the Gunns heading into the Tag Team Tournament. Lets see how that worked out.

We get a replay of Vince’s interview with Diesel from two weeks ago on “Monday Night RAW.”

Christine Dagle is the special guest ring announcer.

Owen Hart vs. Chris Kanyon

Kanyon now has a vinyl jacket with his name on the back. Lawler laughs over Owen tricking his mother into throwing in the towel on Bret at Survivor Series. Both men trade arm wringers to start. Owen takes Kanyon down as Vince wants to know what pleasure Owen gets out of screwing over his brother. Vince talks about the upcoming new year and how Bret will be back in action. Kanyon catches Owen with a hip toss but whiffs on an elbow drop. Owen chokes out Kanyon as the announcers now talk Stu & Helen. Owen then hits Kanyon with a backbreaker but Kanyon fights back. Owen ducks a moonsault block and heads up to hit a missile dropkick then Owen declares that Kanyon is finished and uses The Sharpshooter for the win (3:05). Vince then plugs Owen vs. Lex Luger on the Action Zone this weekend.

Thoughts: They are still playing up Owen screwing over Bret to hype up their matches for the Holiday Wish Tour. And a little bit of hype for Owen vs. Luger on Action Zone. In his shoot interview with RF Video, Kanyon said that the missile dropkick he took in this match was the stiffest he ever had taken in his life.

We get another Hakushi vignette. Vince says he is the “White Angel” from Japan.

“Portuguese Man-o-War” Aldo Montoya vs. Ben Jordan

Vince plugs some upcoming shows in New York as Montoya grounds Jordan. Montoya then hits a dropkick and works the arm on the mat as Lawler says he did not appreciate Montoya turning down Ted DiBiase’s offer. Montoya stays on the arm until Jordan lands a cheap shot in the corner. Jordan then slams Montoya as Lawler cracks bad jokes about the Portuguese. Jordan chokes out Montoya then uses an elbow smash but Montoya surprises him with a small package for two. Montoya then uses a clothesline and tries to fire up the crowd but you can literally see several people leaving their seats then Montoya uses a flying bulldog for the win (3:32).

Thoughts: The announcers talked about Montoya turning down DiBiase without mention of teaming with Kid here.

Another Henry Godwinn vignette is shown. He tells us about his slop and slop bucket he uses for his hogs. Godwinn then says we are just as lazy as them. He then says “bon appetit” to all us slop-eating hogs as he tosses the slop into the pigpen.

Tatanka w/ Ted DiBiase vs. Mike Khoury

Tatanka boots Khoury in the gut as Vince uses a photo inside of “WWF Magazine” with DiBiase looking like he is giving money to Tunney as a way to go off on the media for taking quotes out of context and manipulating everything. Tatanka beats on Khoury but misses a charge in the corner and gets rolled up for a two count. Tatanka fights back as Vince mentions how Tatanka & Bigelow will be here next week to face Men on a Mission in the Tag Tournament. Tatanka uses a gutwrench as Lawler makes jokes at Vince’s expense but Khoury comes back with a sad excuse of a crossbody for a one count. Tatanka lays into Khoury then uses the End of the Trail for the win (3:05). Vince then predicts that Luger will get revenge on Tatanka during the Holiday Wish Tour.

Thoughts: Vince’s anti-media rant here was something else. They also hyped the Tatanka & Bigelow vs. Men on a Mission first-round match a bit.

Lord Alfred Hayes does a voiceover ad for “Left Guard” deodorant as the New Headshrinkers, dressed in tuxedos, are sampling the deodorant. This is of course a spoof of the Right Guard deodorant commercials at the time. Hayes then yells at Sionne for eating the deodorant and says it should be stopped and thought these guys were distinguished. It ends with Capt. Lou Albano & Afa on the set. I believe this was the final bit for Hayes with the WWF as he would be let go as part of a cost-cutting measure. And with all the younger, less established personalities coming in and the company not doing so hot financially it made sense.

Clip from last year when Santa Claus gave Doink his Christmas gift, which turned out to be Dink.

Doink w/ Dink vs. Curtis Harrison

The announcers talk about Doink vs. Bob Backlund this coming Monday night on RAW as Doink works the leg on the mat. Dink runs in to tickle Harrison as Vince cackles like a moron. Doink now works the arm as Vince calls him a scientific wrestler. Doink boots Harrison down in the corner as Harrison runs like he has about 50lbs of shit in his pants. Doink stays in control the Whoopie Cushion for the win (2:08).

Thoughts: A brief showcase for Doink for his match against Backlund on RAW.

Another WWF Live Event News segment about the Holiday Wish Tour.

Next week kicks off the Tag Team Title Tournament. Also, the debut of Henry Godwinn. Others in action include Adam Bomb, IRS, and the British Bulldog. Plus, the “Heartbreak Hotel” with guest Jeff Jarrett.

Final Thoughts: The big news here was the Tag Team Title Tournament bracket reveal. We also saw more hype for the Razor/Jarrett feud as well as the Holiday Wish tour. And next week we will even see the debut of Henry Godwinn. Plus, next week kicks of a new taping cycle that will be more focused on hyping the next PPV, Royal Rumble.
