WWF Superstars – December 3rd, 1994

December 3, 1994
From the Fernwood Resort in Bushkill, PA.
Your hosts are Vince McMahon and Jerry “The King” Lawler
This week, we will hear from both Diesel and Bob Backlund. In action are 1-2-3 Kid, Duke Droese, King Kong Bundy, and The Bushwhackers.
1-2-3 Kid vs. Brooklyn Brawler
Kid has a new permed mullet as Lawler makes fun of it as Brawler taunts Kid after a slam. Kid comes back with a dropkick then lands several kicks in the corner as the announcers talk about Diesel beating Backlund for the title. Brawler decks Kid then drops him across the top rope before sending him outside. Brawler then takes Kid down with a baseball slide and after that whips him into the post. Brawler takes Kid back inside and runs his face along the ropes as Lawler makes fun of his size. Brawler sends Kid outside but this time misses a baseball slide. Kid brings Brawler back inside and runs wild. Brawler cuts him off and heads up top but Kid slams him off and uses a cradle for the win (3:36). Vince then plugs Kid & Aldo Montoya vs. Heavenly Bodies tomorrow on “Action Zone.”
Thoughts: The announcers mostly talked about Diesel becoming the new World Champion. They also plugged Kid vs. Heavenly Bodies for “Action Zone.”
Survivor Series Report with Todd Pettengill. Same as we saw from Challenge except for the Backlund and Diesel interviews. Backlund is seated and yells about Diesel showing zero respect by not shaking hands. Backlund says he aims for excellence then screams about Jack Tunney’s bureaucracy and he needs a contract right away for a rematch. Backlund then says when he procures the chicken wing on Diesel he will put him away and will get an “A+” and graduate Magna Cum Laude then put morality back into our lives. These Backlund promos are great. Diesel then tells Backlund to listen up. Diesel makes fun of Backlund’s “Wilbur” false teeth, “flame retardant Barney Miller suit,” and “Boxcar Willie” ears. Diesel then says he saved us all by taking the belt from Backlund and talks about the New Generation. Diesel then tells in the New Generation the match starts when the bell rings and when the match was over he searched for him to offer a handshake. Diesel then says Backlund is our version of “Forrest Gump” and to go back to school because professor Diesel has just given him an “F.” Diesel closes by “kicking” Backlund out of school. Holy shit was this terrible. The material was just wretched and makes Diesel look like an incredible dork instead of a cool-looking badass that destroys people, which is how he got over in the first place.
King Kong Bundy w/ Ted DiBiase vs. Jason Ahrndt
The announcers talk about Bam Bam Bigelow almost attacking DiBiase last week but Lawler accuses him of stirring up things. Vince then wants to know what will happen when DiBiase’s men see each other in the Rumble match as Bundy beats on Ahrndt. Bundy stays in control and hits an avalanche then drops an elbow for the win as the referee once again does not give him the five count (2:08). Vince continues to talk about who DiBiase will ask to join The Corporation in the future.
Thoughts: They teased DiBiase bringing in a new Corporation member and in a way that made it seem Bigelow was in fact going to turn on DiBiase. Bundy remains awful and easily the laziest wrestler on the roster at this point.
WWF Live Event News with Charlie Minn. He plugs the Holiday Wish Tour that will take place in January with proceeds to the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Matches include: Wink & Pink vs. Queezy & Cheezy (Minn tells us this is for the kids), Alundra Blayze vs. Bull Nakano for the Women’s Title, Lex Luger & British Bulldog vs. Bam Bam Bigelow & King Kong Bundy, Undertaker vs. Tatanka, Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart in a No Holds Barred match as we learn that Bret asked for this match. Minn also says Bret is in a different state of mind. Also, Diesel vs. Backlund for the World Title with Shawn Michaels in the corner of Backlund. And, Shawn will host the Heartbreak Hotel. I hope to be able to get a copy of the Nassau Coliseum show for a review.
We see clouds in the sky then the sky turns dark and the name “Hakushi” appears. He is coming to the WWF soon. And this would be Jinsei Shinzaki from Michinoku Pro.
Jenny Granic is the special guest ring announcer. Lawler makes fun of her for being a “gym teacher waiting to happen.” Mean but funny joke.
The Bushwhackers vs. J.S. Storm &
The Bushwhackers continue to rub noses as they are calling this a “hongy.” It sounded like “honky” last weekend on “Action Zone.” Vince tells the Fox 5 New York audience that the show next week will air on Sunday at 1pm. Storm beats on Butch in the corner as Vince lists off some house shows. Vince then talks about the Tag Team Championship Tournament and how we will find out more about that next week. (1:51).
Thoughts: We are getting a Tag Team Title Tournament and depth is so poor that The Bushwhackers are still kicking around. And we will find out more about the tournament next week.
We see a video clip of Alundra Blayze losing the title in Japan to Bull Nakano. We then see an empty arena interview with Alundra and Vince. She talks about Nakano having the hometown advantage. Her holiday wishes are everyone having a great holiday season, the Make-a-Wish Foundation kids get all their wishes granted, and that she becomes the champion once again. Not much of an interview but expect a rematch soon enough. Must be part of this “story” Bruce Prichard said the company was trying to tell us about the feud.
Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart vs. Jeff Hardy
The graphic reads “Jeff Harvey” and it lists him at 6’2 and 232 lbs. That is just amazing. Neidhart press slams Hardy to the floor as the announcers even call him “Harvey.” Neidhart skies Hardy with a back drop as Lawler says Neidhart is sending a message to the entire WWF. Neidhart continues to destroy Hardy and puts him away with the Camel’s Clutch (2:00).
Thoughts: Man, Neidhart kicked the shit out of Hardy here. Since Owen and Neidhart no longer accompany each other to the ring it seems like they’re going to make them singles acts again.
We get another Henry Godwinn vignette. We see a hog lying on the ground being lazy. Godwinn says we are just as lazy as his hogs by watching him on the TV. Godwinn then sings while calling his hogs. Again, this was a heel promo. Not a good one and the character seems moronic but this is not anything resembling a babyface.
Footage of the WWF Superstars at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Lawler cracks a Barney joke about Mabel. They give the heel’s current references instead of the babyfaces in WWF.
Duke “The Dumpster” Droese vs. Black Phantom
Droese shoves Phantom as Lawler talks about how bad it would smell if Droese and Godwinn were in the ring at the same time. Almost like they are teasing a feud between the two. Droese busts out a dropkick and stays in control as he applies a bearhug. Droese then catches Phantom with a spinebuster and says he’s gonna take out the trash and puts Phantom away with the Trash Compactor for the win (2:43).
Thoughts: Not much going on with Droese as he’s been pinned twice on TV the past several weeks and was not part of Survivor Series. And again, almost like they lightly hinted at a Droese vs. Godwinn feud which does not seem too good on paper.
Another Live Event News segment on the Make-a-Wish tour.
We get the Mafia boss New Generation ad.
Next week in action are the Smoking Gunns, Tatanka, Doink, Owen Hart, and Razor Ramon. Plus, Bob Backlund as guest on the Heartbreak Hotel.
Final Thoughts: They’re pushing Diesel as the “cool” new champion and Backlund is gearing up for a rematch. A Diesel/Shawn feud is being groomed for the future. We also saw another vignette for a soon to be debuting superstar and next week will learn all about the Tag Team Title Tournament
