Because, like the booking for this show, that too is back asswards.
I'm generally an AEW cheerleader like you, but is there anything more
back asswards in wrestling than first announcing a novelty show, and
then shoe-horning in some booking to fit it? That's vintage WWE right
there. Why not just do the post-Revolution show angle first, then have
one side challenge the other to a Not War Games match?
I really hope this is just a one-off brain fart and not a sign of
things to come.
Also, why isn't Jon Moxley in the match? Is he going to be just a
mid-card World champion?
I'm guessing the feeling is that the gimmick match will draw the rating and interest, and the participants are secondary? It does seem like a pretty clear ratings ploy, and an especially strange one in that they're giving NXT weeks to prepare a counter-strike.
