Ricochet and Vince
By Scott Keith on March 6, 2020
Hey Scott,
So according to Meltzer Ricochet is being buried by Vince because he just doesn't "get" him, or something like that. That's a quality money wrestler that will possibly be wasted on nothing matches and hanging out in catering. My question is, what's the incentive for the newer wrestlers to even try in the WWE? If you're young and toiled in the indies for years you risk getting over and getting buried by a senile old man who doesn't understand you. And the WWE is trying to lock down people just to spite AEW. Hawkins, Jinder, Shelton and several others get big fat contracts to hang out backstage and good for them, but now they got a big surplus of wrestlers they aren't using and they keep adding. Seriously, what's the point in getting over?
Merchandise dollars and big fat videogame royalty cheques, but other than that, you are correct. There hardly seems to be a point any longer if you're someone who has any desire to better himself as a star or a worker. But you know, lots of guys are perfectly happy to collect the downside and work occasional house shows while playing video games at home with their families, and that's OK too because wrestling is a shitty business and if you can find some financial stability then you should jump on it.
