Scott,
What was your personal golden era for professional wresting…the time period where everything clicked, brought back good memories and you are able to watch over and over without ever getting tired of it? For me it was the NWA from 1985 to '89. Even with some of Dusty's bad booking in the later years I still consider it my all-time favorite. Part of that was because I had a chip on my shoulder and wanted an alternative to the cartoony circus of the WWF that all my friends were watching. Seeing Hawk and Animal flip some jobber on their neck or listening to Flair brag about Space Mountain was always way cooler than Hogan ranting and raving about prayers and vitamins. And the lower budget presentation, the entrances, the logo, the way the arena was lighted…everything about the NWA was just more appealing to me.
Runners up would be Nitro era WCW and Network era NXT.
I can watch WWF 86-89 or NWA 85-89 over and over like that, too. Probably because that's when I became a fan, and as they say about comics, the real Golden Age of comics is 10 (or however old you were when you first started reading them).
