WWF Cornwall, Ontario – October 2nd, 1994

By Brian Bayless on February 6, 2020

October 2, 1994

This is fan-cam footage of the 10/2/94 Cornwall house show.

Billy Red Lyons is the ring announcer.

Abe “Knuckleball” Schwartz vs. PJ Walker

Walker gets “Crank It Up” as his theme song and does a lot of high-energy generic babyface stuff during his ring entrance. Schwartz slides underneath Walker then declares himself safe as it barely gets a reaction from the crowd. Schwartz now does some generic heel stalling then the camera loses focus and when its figured out we see Schwartz kneeling in the corner. Schwartz slaps Walker but gets taken down with a hip toss. Walker then hits a slam and a dropkick before Schwartz bails. Schwartz heads up the aisle then returns and gets in Walker’s face. Walker lands a couple of shots but ducks his head and Schwartz uses a swinging neckbreaker. Schwartz then clotheslines Walker over the top rope as we hear several boos from the crowd. Schwartz taunts the crowd and that gets a better heel reaction then soon after that applies a chin lock. Walker tries to escape but Schwartz yanks him down by the hair. Schwartz now chokes out Walker on the mat then goes back to the chin lock. The crowd rallies behind Walker as he fights out but Schwartz turns him inside-out with a clothesline. Schwartz gets a two count after roughing up Walker then yells at the ref. Schwartz covers again for a two count and goes back to yelling at the ref and that allows Walker to sneak up from behind and use a rollup for two. Schwartz stomps Walker and goes back to the chin lock. Walker fights out then avoids a charge in the corner. Walker now fires away then connects with a dropkick. Walker fires up and lands ten mounted punches in the corner but Schwartz breaks that up with an inverted atomic drop. Schwartz rolls up Walker for two then rolls through a reverse rollup and grabs the tights for the win (10:59) *1/2. The ref gets on Schwartz for cheating but since he did not see anything he cannot change his decision.

Thoughts: The crowd was into this, very likely due to it being the opening match, but both guys showed enough energy for a house show that it was far from the worst opening match I’ve ever seen. We never really saw Walker get much offense at all on TV but I thought he looked good in this match.

Nikolai Volkoff vs. Doink the Clown w/ Dink

Volkoff roughs up Doink to start. He drops down but Doink jumps over him and they do a comedy bit where Doink keeps behind him and that ends with Doink using an eye poke. Doink works the arm after a drop toe hold and when Volkoff tries to reach the ropes, Dink bites his hand. Doink gets kicked after ducking his head for a back drop as we now see Volkoff attack the leg. Volkoff now stomps away before using a slam but misses a knee drop. Doink dropkicks Volkoff in a spot that looked like shit then Doink sidesteps a corner splash and uses a rollup for the win (4:01) DUD.

Thoughts: This was terrible and Volkoff had no business being in the ring at this point but luckily it only lasted four minutes and good thing as it just about completely fell apart at the end. Volkoff is essentially the forgotten man of The Corporation while Doink needed the win as he was in a feud with Lawler. Also, second straight match with a rollup finish.

Tatanka vs. Duke “The Dumpster” Droese

Tatanka attacks Droese from behind to start. Droese fights back then Tatanka bails after getting dropkicked. Tatanka returns to challenge for a test-of-strength but Droese does not fall for his tricks and fights back. Droese works the arm for a while as the crowd appears bored. Droese runs over Tatanka but gets sent outside soon after that. Tatanka heads out to stomp Droese then he sends him into the steps. Tatanka now takes the action back into the ring and chokes out Droese in the corner. Tatanka slams Droese then drops an elbow for a two count before applying a chin lock. He keeps breaking to make a pin then goes back to the hold. Droese makes a few escape attempts but Tatanka takes him back down to the mat each time. Droese once again fails to escape and we get some boos from the crowd. The ref now raises Droese’s hand but Droese is able to keep it up on the third attempt. Droese tries to rally the crowd behind him but gets little reaction. Tatanka now chops Droese in the corner but eats boot on a charge. Tatanka gets booted again trying another charge then Droese fires away. Droese runs wild and gets two with a back elbow smash. Powerslam gets two. Droese now says its time to take out the trash but whiffs on a crossbody then Tatanka uses the Renegade Drop for the win (13:18) *.

Thoughts: Crappy match as literally half of the match as Tatanka having Droese in a chin lock. Tatanka continues to show nothing as a heel. And Droese is without direction since his Lawler feud ended in less than spectacular fashion so he could afford the loss with Tatanka in a heavily pushed feud against Lex Luger.

Heavenly Bodies vs. Smoking Gunns

One fan yells out “Smoking Faggots” at the start of the match. Billy fores away on Prichard to start then the match breaks down with The Gunns running wild and clearing the ring. The match settles down now with The Gunns taking turns working the arm of Prichard. Del Ray tags in and the Gunns hit him with a sideslam/DDT combo for a nearfall. Del Ray fights back against Bart then tags out but Prichard walks right into an arm drag. The Gunns go back to target the arm of Prichard, whose being quite vocal here and making the match more fun to be honest. Del Ray knees Bart from the apron and that allows Prichard to attack from behind. The Bodies beat on Bart in their corner and have finally taken control of the match. Del Ray taunts the fans then takes a swing at Billy, who was standing on the apron. Del Ray distracts Billy and the ref so Prichard can rough up Bart on the outside. Bart gets rolled back inside then Del Ray covers after landing several jabs and gets a two count. The Bodies then hit an assisted leg drop for two. The Bodies keep running interference to maintain control and the crowd is rallying behind Bart. The Bodies ground Bart but he makes the tag. However, the ref did not see it take place and orders Billy on the apron. Bart comes back with a dropkick on Del Ray then blocks a suplex to hit one on his own as both men are down. Del Ray hammers away then Bart comes back with a sunset flip for two. Del Ray clotheslines Bart then does his dance as I believe the fan who yelled “Smoking Faggots” started cheering. Hmmm. Both men collide during an Irish whip sequence and Bart finally makes the tag as Billy runs wild. Billy clotheslines Del Ray over the top rope and beats on Prichard. The Gunns hit the Revolver but Del Ray breaks that up. Billy now yells at the ref and Del Ray super kicks Bart and rolls Prichard outside to make the cover but still only gets two. Bart then makes a blind tag and slides outside during an Irish whip sequence and Billy comes off of the top with a clothesline for the win (12:58) **1/2.

Thoughts: Solid match with the majority of the crowd behind The Gunns. The Bodies heeled on the crowd and it seemed like all four guys were having fun. Easily the best match on the show.

WWF Intercontinental Title Match: Pierre vs. Razor Ramon (c)

Pierre comes out to The Quebecers theme music and wearing similar pants but has been growing his hair out. Both men trade hammerlocks to start. Razor ends up running Pierre outside where he retreats halfway up the aisle. Pierre returns and now works a headlock but Razor escapes and turns it into a wrist lock. Razor tosses Pierre down but Pierre fights back and hammers away. Pierre whips Razor into the corner a few times then targets the back before applying a rear chin lock. Pierre tries to jump on Razor’s back but Razor got his knees up. However, Pierre is able to get up and go right back on the attack. Pierre taunts the crowd after cutting off Razor’s comeback attempt then locks on an abdominal stretch. Razor reverses but Pierre breaks that up with a hip toss. Razor then hits a chokeslam after a reversal sequence as both men are down. Razor fires away then pumps up the crowd before clotheslining Pierre over the top rope. Razor heads outside and beats on Pierre and that leads to a brawl where Pierre is just able to roll back into the ring before the ten count and gets the win (13:41) 1/2*. After the match, Pierre demands they cut his music then runs down Razor. However, Razor gets back into the ring and fights off Pierre before hitting him with the Razor’s Edge. Razor then holds up his title belt as the fans cheer. Razor leaves then Pierre gets up and cuts a promo that I can barely hear but he did mention Jacques Rougeau by name.

Thoughts: This was complete garbage and with a terrible finish to boot. Most of the match consisted of Pierre laying on Razor on the mat with the action at a bare minimum. I assume that Pierre mentioned Jacques to bring up how he was on his own. However, this match did nothing to make you want to actually see him as a singles act.

Owen Hart vs. 1-2-3 Kid

The crowd chants for Bret. Owen retreats from Kid as the crowd continues to chant for Bret. Both men trade arm wringers until Owen reaches the ropes. Owen accuses Kid of pulling his hair then works a hammerlock on the mat. One fan yells how he wants Diesel as Owen stays on the arm. Kid fights back and grounds Owen with a side headlock. Owen catches Kid with a knee smash after an Irish whip sequence then taunts the crowd, who the resumes their chant for Bret. Owen headbutts Kid in the midsection then hammers away. Kid fights back from the corner but Owen beats him down. Owen drops Kid after a pair of European uppercuts but misses a charge in the corner. Kid lands several kicks in the corner then takes Owen over with a monkey flip for two. Spinning heel kick gets two but right after that Owen catches Kid with a belly-to-belly and gets the win (7:23) *3/4.

Thoughts: Just as it appeared like these two were going to kick it into a faster gear the match abruptly ends with a belly-to-belly suplex. An incredibly disappointing finish and even worse, it was the last match of the show. Not exactly a way to get you to return when the company returns to town.

Final Thoughts: This is available on YouTube and I reviewed it out of curiosity and let me tell you that there is no good reason to watch this show. Its not the single worst house show I’ve seen but it might have had the weakest card top to bottom. And again, what a shitty way to end this show with the finish to Owen vs. Kid.
