WWF Monday Night RAW – September 12th, 1994

By Brian Bayless on December 18, 2019

September 12, 1994

From the Lowell Memorial Auditorium in Lowell, MA

Your hosts are Vince McMahon and “Macho Man” Randy Savage

This week, we will have Undertaker vs. Kwang. Plus, Doink & Dink as guests on the “King’s Court.” Also in action are Shawn Michaels & Diesel and more!

Kwang w/ Harvey Whippleman vs. The Undertaker w/ Paul Bearer

Vince says this is the first RAW appearance of Undertaker in 8.5 months. Kwang charges but gets booted in the gut. Undertaker rams Kwang in the corner as Vince hypes the “Hart Attack” tour where Undertaker is facing Yokozuna. Undertaker no-sells a chop then hits a slam but misses an elbow drop. However, Undertaker sits right up only to get kicked through the ropes. Kwang attacks Undertaker but gets hit with a neck snap then Undertaker slides back into the ring and hammers away. Undertaker then hits his rope-walk attack as the announcers talk about Leslie Nielsen & George Kennedy solving the case of The Undertaker, with Savage putting them over as huge stars and great person. Kwang comes back with a neck snap then we go to break and return to Kwang hammering away. Undertaker fights back but gets hit with a thrust kick. Undertaker lands on his feet after getting clotheslined over the top rope then grabs Kwang by the throat from the apron and steps back into the ring. Kwang spits mist into Undertaker’s face but Undertaker ends up spitting it back then hits a chokeslam for the win (5:24 shown) *1/2.

Thoughts: A dominating win over a name opponent for The Undertaker as he is now back on TV as a regular. And once again Vince made mention of there only being one Undertaker as that storyline is dead and buried. Undertaker’s house show matches against Yokozuna were plugged here.

We see clips of the Bret vs. Owen Hart steel cage match from SummerSlam to sell the Coliseum Home Video release of the PPV, which will be released on 10/5.

Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart w/ Owen Hart vs. Tim McNeany

Neidhart attacks McNeany before the bell then tosses him across the ring. Owen looks into the camera to tell Bret that Neidhart will hurt him when they face off, which is also part of the Hart Attack tour. Neidhart taunts McNeany as Vince wants to know just how much the steel cage match took out of Bret. McNeany gets dumped outside where Owen yells in his face then Neidhart beats the crap out of him before putting him out of his misery with the Camel’s Clutch (3:53). After the match, Neidhart re-applies the Camel’s Clutch so Owen can snap his glasses off of McNeany’s face.

Thoughts: A long squash match win to put Neidhart over for his matches against Bret on the Hart Attack tour.

We get a hype video for next week’s Jerry Lawler vs. Duke Droese match.

The camera focuses on a fan sign ragging on the MLB strike as we see a replay from this week’s “Superstars” when Lawler popped all of Dink’s balloons.

King’s Court with guests Doink & Dink. First, Lawler says he is holding a note from WWF President Jack Tunney saying he wants him to apologize to Doink & Dink for popping balloons. Lawler makes fun of Doink & Dink’s attire then Doink comes back to ask if Lawler got his crown at Burger King. Lawler then throws out a height joke as Doink asks about the apology. Doink then says he bought Lawler a present to show there are no hard feelings. Two guys in suits carry out a large box as Lawler seems pleased over getting a gift. However, Lawler says he remembers Doink’s pranks and wants the gift to be returned. Doink offers to open up the box then pulls out a trash can. Lawler then asks why he is getting this as Doink said its for him as next week, Droese will take the trash out of the WWF. Lawler then says he will give a present and goes to kick the can into the crowd but falls down and grabs his foot as Doink pulls out a pair of 25 lbs weights. The back-and-forth dialogue here was wretched although Lawler did carry it about as well as you could. They hyped Lawler/Droese for next week but it appears Lawler/Doink is the feud going forward.

Todd Pettengill runs down the dates of the Hart Attack tour.

Shawn Michaels & Diesel vs. Tony DeVito & Paul Van Dale

The announcers talk about Shawn costing Diesel the Intercontinental Championship. Shawn rouns over DeVito then hops out onto the apron after an Irish whip sequence and returns to slap DeVito across the face. Shawn then skips around the ring and rolls back inside while DeVito chases. Diesel stands in DeVito’s way as Shawn attacks from behind. Shawn stomps away before tagging out as Vince talks about Shawn & Diesel complimenting each other well. Shawn is back into the ring as Vince notes the belts are currently being “steam-cleaned” at Shawn’s request. In reality, this was filmed on 8/15, two weeks prior to Shawn & Diesel winning the titles so they did not have the belts with them. Van Dale tags in and lands a few shots but Shawn comes back with a corkscrew neckbreaker then Diesel is back in to hit a side slam. Diesel then hits a big boot and is getting a good amount of cheers before hitting the Jackknife then Shawn tags in and hits a splash off of Diesel’s shoulders for the win (4:22). Diesel clears the ring after the match.

Thoughts: Shawn & Diesel were really over with this crowd and this was one hell of a performance by Shawn. He showed off his agility, character, and charisma. Honestly, he comes off as the biggest star in the promotion just by how he carries himself. And Diesel is also getting strong crowd reactions himself.

Replay from this past week’s “Superstars” when Adam Bomb answered Bam Bam Bigelow’s challenge issued by Ted DiBiase, which ended up turning into a brawl.

Adam Bomb vs. Duane Gill

Vince tells us The Bushwhackers will be coming up next as Savage said they were is charity softball partners prior to SummerSlam. Vince puts over the game and hints that Savage hit the only home run then we see Bomb hip toss Gill after an Irish whip sequence. Bomb follows with a slam then shrugs off a few shots and comes back with a back drop. Bomb busts out a standing dropkick but Vince wonders if that is enough to beat Bigelow as Bigelow is just as agile. Bomb then hits a side slam and ducks a crossbody as Gill rolls out to the floor. Bomb brings Gill back into the ring and slingshots back inside with a clothesline before the pumphandle slam gets the win (3:19). Vince then tells us that Bomb is an example of the New Generation.

Thoughts: A win for Bomb as he is getting pushed in a feud with Bigelow, which is also part of the Hart Attack tour.
We see a WWF New Generation ad where a man in a confessional booth asks for forgiveness but the priest is preoccupied with Monday Night RAW. This ends with a voice over saying we can put our faith in the WWF.

The Bushwhackers vs. Barry Hardy & Bert Centeno

Vince talks about The Bushwhackers licking Barney the Dinosaur at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. Vince also says The Bushwhackers will be facing Well Dunn this weekend. Centeno cheap shots Butch from the apron then Hardy hammers away. Butch reverses an Irish whip and gets distracted by Luke, allowing Butch to attack. We see Abe “Knuckleball” Schwartz on strike in the crowd as The Bushwhackers hit a double clothesline on both men to clear the ring. Centeno tags in and lands a few shots on Luke then we see Luke fight back and hit a clothesline but the ref is distracted by getting Butch on the apron. Hardy comes in and almost stomps his partner inadvertently but Butch pushes Hardy on top of Centeno the counts as Luke covers, a spot that did not get over as planned. The Bushwhackers stomp the ring to get the crowd into the match as Vince plugs DiBiase & Tatanka being on the Heartbreak Hotel and then The Bushwhackers hit Centeno with a battering ram for the win (4:14).

Thoughts: The Bushwhackers went through their whole act a little over halfway through this match then resorted to constantly stomping the apron in order to get a reaction from the crowd. And they plugged The Bushwhackers vs. Well Dunn this weekend, on “Superstars.”

We see The Bushwhackers in the crowd celebrating with the fans.

The announcers hype up next week’s show with Lawler vs. Droese. Plus, an interview with “Bitter” Bob Backlund. Also in action are Lex Luger and Yokozuna.

Final Thoughts: They set up for next week’s Lawler vs. Droese match while most of the focus seemed to be on the Hart Attack tour. And we will see how effective that turned out to be in the coming weeks. But, after a few weeks off, RAW came back with a really dull show.
