This is a fan-cam version of the show. However, it only features the main event, which was the selling point of this New York exclusive marathon tour.
Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart
Owen stalls on the outside briefly then the two lockup. Owen complains of a hair pull then they lockup again while Owen makes another hair-pulling accusation. Owen now bails as the crowd gives him shit so he grabs the mic and orders them to stop. He returns and Bret puts him in an arm bar. Bret backs Owen into the corner with a lockup as Owen keeps ducking underneath the ropes with Owen getting tons of shit from the crowd. Owen keeps complaining then slaps Bret across the face and bails before he could get attacked. Owen returns to work a hammerlock and that leads to a slower-paced reversal sequence with some fun selling by Owen. Bret pulls Owen away from the ropes to work the arm as he has gained control of the match. Owen tries to take over but Bret keeps having answers to his counters. Bret works a headscissors on the mat as the people behind the camera are not impressed with ten minutes of arm work. Bret goes back to the arm then Owen rolls outside after Bret reversed a hip toss. Owen heads up the aisle as the fans give him shit. He returns as Bret goes back to work on the arm. Owen ends up catching Bret with a knee to the gut then he starts working the leg. Owen starts raking Bret across the face then hammers away in the corner. Owen covers with his feet on the ropes but Bret keeps kicking out then he uses a Camel’s Clutch. Bret tries to escape and finally does but Owen yanks him down by the hair and puts on another chin lock. Bret keeps trying to escape but Owen uses illegal tactics to maintain control. Owen catches Bret with a jumping back elbow smash for a two count then goes back to the chin lock. Bret escapes and hammers away but Owen catches him with a belly-to-belly suplex and gets two. The ring announcer gets on the PA to say there are 30 minutes remaining as Owen is once again using a chin lock. Bret sneaks in a rollup for two but Owen goes back on the attack and uses a neckbreaker for a nearfall. Leg drop gets two. Owen yet again goes back to the chin lock but Bret gets out of that too and hammers away in the corner. However, Bret misses a charge then Owen heads up top for a missile dropkick and gets another two count. Owen runs Bret outside to block a reverse rollup then uses taunts the crowd. He tries to suplex Bret inside but Bret floats over and knocks Owen into the ropes. Bret misses an attack and hits the ropes but is able to block a sunset flip and pick up the first pin fall (35:31). The bell rings again as Owen talks trash to both Bret and the crowd. Bret hammers away in the corner but Owen comes back with an inverted atomic drop then attacks the leg. Owen rams Bret’s leg off of the post a few times then goes back inside to continue the attack. Bret limps to the corner where Owen kicks out his leg. Bret continues to limp as Owen is relentlessly attacking the leg then finally wins a fall by using a figure-four (43:58). Owen attacks Bret’s leg after the bell and puts on another figure four to get the fall as its now 2-1 in favor of Owen (46:08). We see Owen go for another figure-four as he grabs the ropes with both hands for leverage. The ref yells at Owen, who once again goes to work on the leg. Owen eats boot on a charge in the corner then Bret comes back with a flying clothesline as both men are down. Bret makes his comeback and hits his trademark moves, picking up a few nearfalls in the process. Bret then blocks a reverse rollup attack attempt and tries for a Sharpshooter but Owen breaks it up with a punch to the face. Bret then places Owen up top and hits a superplex then puts on the Sharpshooter and picks up the fall, tying it up 2-2 (53:45). Bret fires away after the bell and ends up dropping Owen after a flurry of punches. Owen makes it to the ropes to avoid a sharpshooter then Bret drags him away and hits a piledriver for a two count. We hear there are just three minutes left as Owen catches Bret with an enziguiri for a two count and that triggers a series of nearfalls for both men as they pick up the pace then Owen puts on the Sharpshooter but Bret is saved by the bell as the time-limit has expired. Just a side note, the night prior at the Meadowlands Bret won just before the time-limit with the Sharpshooter). However, we learn that the match is going to overtime with sudden death rules. Owen catches Bret in an abdominal stretch and after that takes the action outside. Owen whips Bret hard into the corner but soon after that both men collide and end up out on the mat. Bret now uses a sleeper but Owen breaks that up by running him into the ropes. Owen signals that he is ending the match and puts on the Sharpshooter but Bret reverses and ends up getting the win (68:23) ****.
Thoughts: Excellent match but a step or two below their classic at WretleMania X. The story of the match was strong with Bret frustrating Owen by being one step ahead at the beginning then Owen destroying the leg to get ahead which led to sudden death with Bret reversing the Sharpshooter for the win. And you can look at the fact Bret was saved by the bell and Owen could have won the match if not for the limit to justify Owen getting another title shot. My only complaint was Bret’s selling of his leg was a bit spotty at times and maybe a bit too much stalling by Owen at the beginning but this is well worth seeking out. And, for a fan-cam version, the picture quality was good.
Final Thoughts: This main event was excellent. However, the shows drew poorly. With the company image taking a major hit in this era and the overall product being poor, it was not a surprise. You can view this match on YouTube and I do recommend seeking it out.
And for what we missed, here was the rest of the card:
Kwang d. 1-2-3 Kid, Duke Droese d. Rick Martel, Yokozuna d. Typhoon, Randy Savage d. Jerry Lawler, Headshrinkers d. Double Trouble (Subbing for Heavenly Bodies as Jimmy Del Ray was injured), and IRS d. Tatanka.
