Smackdown on MyTv Era

When Smackdown was on the MyTv Network for 2 years from 2008-2010, what was the reasoning behind the WWE choosing the tiny station? Was no other network willing to offer the WWE a better deal for the program at that point?
That is normally why people land on crummy networks, yes. I don't remember all the politics but I think it was that they basically got caught in the middle of the ugliness involved in the UPN/WB merger into the CW and the new people in charge didn't really want them on the station.
