Dynamite vs…?
By Scott Keith on October 4, 2019
Off the top, I watched and now rewatched both AEW and NXT last night and again today, and as a wrestling fan, god bless everyone involved in both. I’ve not had my expectations be met like this in a long while from two different two hour shows. But I did wonder what your take was on comparing AEW’s product to NXT, as opposed to Raw or SD.
I’m not talking necessarily about ratings but more what the positioning of the program is in relation the the company and the quality of it for that spot. NXT, for all that it is my favorite WWE product and many other long term fans, is the tertiary show, no matter how good the product itself is. Whereas Dynamite is AEWs A-show, and only show, between PPVs. So I felt as I watched it that maybe they were aiming slightly more for a combination of hardcore fans AND the more mainstream appeal of a main roster show. Just from an atmosphere perspective, Full Sail is always on fire but is only a few hundred fans. Dynamite felt like watching Raw or Nitro back in the 90s.
So while NXT was slightly better wrestling last night, is it fair to say that AEW was better than, say, Raw from Monday?
