Lethal Lottery
By Scott Keith on September 28, 2019
Hey Scott,
Silly question but as a kid I used to make lists of wrestlers names and cut them out and put them in a bowl and make my own lethal lotteries. Years later, I'm still finding little strips of loose leaf around the house that say "Greg Valentine" or some random wrestlers name.
Was wondering if you or anyone else on the blog used to do this and if you remember any bad ass random match ups that came from it.
Also – don't you think this would be an easy thing to reboot for an episode of RAW? Just to break the monotony?
The problem with the concept has always been that you always got one of two extremes with no middle ground:
1) A seemingly random assortment of matches that by their nature can't produce storyline drama (see Starrcade 92 for the best example of this).
2) Overly booked matches were enemies conveniently team up and friends conveniently oppose each other. (Slamboree 96)
There's just too many spinning plates to make it an effective tool, I think. Where it WOULD be well suited is something like NXT, where everyone is mostly on a level playing field and you can mix and match much easier.
