WWE Cruiserweight House Shows?

Did the WWE actually go through on the idea of the cruiserweights having their own touring house show schedule? I swear I remember reading one or two reports that just had them on a few house shows, but I'm not sure.
They did a couple of shows with the cruiserweights and a main event of Matt Hardy v. Bray Wyatt back when they assumed people cared about that feud, and the shows died a horrible death and they were immediately dropped. They just ran places like Poughkeepsie if I'm not mistaken.
