50/50 booking that worked

By Scott Keith on August 1, 2019

In a recent topic it was about where one wrestler owned a feud. What about the opposite. What are some of examples of 50/50 booking where both guys came out better partially because it was both guys got wins in the feud?
Couple examples: HHH v. Rock from 98 DX v Nation of Domination to their back and forth in 2000 over the world title.
A similar one is the Mankind v. Rock over the world title in late 98 and early 99 with many memorable moments like Mankind's first title win to Royal Rumble with the 5000 chair shots to the empty arena match.

Rock can survive 50/50 booking easily though, because he's the Rock. Traditionally, 50/50 booking is done over a much longer time frame, with the idea being that one guy gets the shine on the way up, and then returns the favor to the guys that he beat while he's on the way down and out of the territory. In theory, that's what should have happened with Brock Lesnar. He steamrolls everyone as champion, and then once he loses to Seth he puts those same guys over to give them the rub and then leaves. But of course, that's not how it works for him.

But two examples where it worked for me: Rick Rude and Ultimate Warrior trading the IC title in 1989, and Demolition dropping the tag titles to Andre & Haku and then figuring out a better gameplan and regaining them at Wrestlemania 6.
