WWF Wrestling Challenge – February 6th, 1994

By Brian Bayless on July 16, 2019

February 6, 1994

From the Florence Civic Center in Florence, SC

Your hosts are Gorilla Monsoon and Jim Ross

This week’s featured match is Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Doink the Clown.

We get a video package on the Doink/Bigelow feud.

Bam Bam Bigelow w/ Luna Vachon vs. Doink the Clown w/ Dink

The announcers say that Crush and Men on a Mission will also be on the show. Bigelow tries to play tug-of-war with Dink knocks Doink down after the latter ran in for the attack. Doink fights back and clotheslines Bigelow outside after a belly-to-belly suplex then Dink returns to sit on Doink’s back. Dink steps on Luna’s hand as she is pissed then Doink grounds Bigelow after a failed distraction attempt by Luna. Bigelow reaches the ropes but Doink puts him in a STF. Luna attacks Doink while the ref was yelling at Dink to get off of the ropes as Bigelow is now in control. Dink runs in to step on Doink’s back and pokes Bigelow in the eye but Bigelow drops Doink with an elbow smash. Doink avoids a falling headbutt then runs wild as we go to break. We return to see Luna chase Dink outside of the ring as Bigelow rams Doink into the steps. Bigelow & Luna now surround Dink but fail to capture him as Dink retreats halfway down the aisle. Doink is still down on the outside but returns and avoids an avalance. Doink tries a slam but Bigelow falls on top as that gets two. Bigelow applies a chin lock but Doink escapes and hits a slam. Doink gets a nearfall with a leg drop then tries to knock Bigelow off of his feet with some clotheslines but gets tripped up by Luna. Bigelow drops an elbow as the ref is tied up with Dink then heads up top and hits the flying headbutt. Dink keeps kicking Bigelow then threatens him to fight but as that happens, Luna sneaks up behind Dink and gets caught. Dink breaks free and rams his head into Bigelow’s junk and Bigelow spills outside as everyone is down. The referee then counts and Bigelow is counted out as Doink gets the win (11:06) **. After the match, Luna yells at the ref then drags Dink near the corner. Bigelow heads up top as Luna rolls Doink outside then Bigelow taunts the crowd. The ref stops Bigelow from jumping and Doink drags Dink out and carries him up the aisle as we see Doink crying.

Thoughts: Not much of an actual match but it did a surprisingly decent job of storytelling as we finally advanced this feud now that Bigelow & Luna have harmed Dink. And with WrestleMania around the corner its likely we will see them involved in a match.

Another video airs hyping up Earthquake’s return.

Diesel w/ Shawn Michaels vs. Brad Anderson

Ross puts over Brad for being the father of the legendary Gene Anderson then speaks of Diesel’s performance at the Rumble. Anderson manages a dropkick but Diesel shrugs that off and hammers away. Diesel then hits a gutwrench bomb and after that uses a big boot then an elbow drop for the win (1:50).

Thoughts: They put over Diesel’s performance in the Rumble and they are now using that to give him a push as someone other than Shawn’s imposing bodyguard.

We get another video package on Alundra Blayze.

The WrestleMania X Report airs.

Crush w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Tyrone Knox

The announcers talk about Crush vs. Savage at WrestleMania. Knox jumps up on Crush’s back for a sleeper but gets tossed off. Crush dropkicks Knox as the announcers talk about who will be the guest referees for the title matches. Crush stays on control then puts Knox away with a head vice (2:05).

Thoughts: Besides hyping up the Crush/Savage match at WrestleMania they are also speculating as to who will be the guest referees in the WrestleMania title matches.

The Paul Bearer vignette from RAW airs.

Men on a Mission w/ Oscar vs. Fidel Sierra & Terry Thomas

The announcers talk about Jeff Jarrett vs. Tatanka for next week’s show. Sierra beats down Mo as Gorilla notes that its obvious Mo does not have any “bulimic tendencies.” Jesus Christ. Mo fights back then Sierra & Thomas dance around to mock MoM but get double clotheslined by Mabel. Mabel then breaks up a sunset flip attempt by Thomas with a sit-down splash then hits a DDT before using a chin lock. MoM stay in control as Ross wants to see them face The Quebecers for the titles while Gorilla also wants MoM vs. Headshrinkers then Mo pushes Mabel on top of Thomas for the win (3:26).

Thoughts: Big news is that next week we get Jarrett vs. Tatanka in a featured match. The announcers also talked about wanting to see MoM in the Title picture and with The Steiners now seemingly out after losing this weekend The Quebecers are in line for new challengers.

Next week in action are Shawn Michaels, Sparky Plugg, The Bushwhackers, and Tatanka vs. Jarrett.

Final Thoughts: The featured match was long and took up a good chunk of the show as they are back to ramping up the stagnant Doink/Bigelow feud. We also saw the key segments from Superstars and get another featured match for WrestleMania as the TV is going to get more interesting with WrestleMania coming up.
