Friday Night Party Thread: June 28, 2019

WE MADE IT!  Weekend time!  Stream of consciousness follows:

1. So I sent Orange Cassidy out to get information on the indie shows this weekend.  I should have it back by August.

2. MURICA!  Take that, France!

3. Attention England: we’re sending the Yankees and Red Sox over for baseball this weekend.  You’re in no hurry to return them.

4. To weigh in on this PG or not PG thing: I’ve found there’s a really easy way to make the product better.  Have heels cheat.  Like, consider your average match on Raw or SD: they don’t seem to cheat much, do they?  (Yes, I know they set up ambushes and stuff, but that’s just the start…) C’mon, pull some hair, hit a few low blows, fake a tag behind the referee’s back, hang onto the ropes during an abdominal stretch… ANYTHING!  It’s a staple of wrestling because it works!  Do not be afraid of the cheap heat!

5. Robert Roode, EC3, and Cesaro formed a stable on Main Event.  Maybe it’ll have legs.  Or maybe Vince doesn’t watch anything but Raw.

6.So I did that Fredericksburg show last week — felt pretty good, though I had to ref all six matches in First Day Of Summer heat outdoors.  The Gatorade was sweet.

7. Does anyone want me to do a column of some sort?  Be it a Bradley Baker-style essay, a random WWE Network non-wrestling-show review, or maybe just one of my old DC area indies.  Open for ideas for the weekend.

8. Depression is a scary thing.  I lost 10 years of my life to it.  I’m glad Tommy Dreamer got help, and I’m glad CasXL is back in the good with DDP’s help.

9. In honor of the movie Yesterday, what wrestling alternate universe that could be described as “the same as ours but _____ never got into the business” would most intrigue you?
