WWF All-American Wrestling – October 10th, 1993

By Brian Bayless on June 3, 2019

October 10, 1993

Your hosts are Bobby Heenan and Joe Fowler

This week, the Rock ‘N’ Roll Express make their WWF debut against Well Dunn.

The hosts talk about the show and the decade long feud between Cornette and the RnR. Well, Heenan does as Fowler is clueless.

Well Dunn w/ Harvey Whippleman vs. Rock ‘N’ Roll Express

This match took place at the 9/29 “Wrestling Challenge” tapings in Portland, ME. The RnR have their Smoky Mountain Wrestling Tag Team Titles around their waists. Jim Ross and Gorilla Monsoon are the announcers. Whippleman tells us that Well Dunn are the top tag team in the WWF as both team stare each other down. Dunn and Gibson start off with Gibson taking control early. Gibson uses a flying headscissors then tags out as Morton uses a hurricarana. Morton works the arm as we now see Jim Cornette at ringside talking with Whippleman then has Well Dunn come over for a huddle. Back to the match as Morton covers after a dropkick but Cornette runs interference to allow Well Dunn the chance to attack. Well Dunn cut the ring in half as we hear some chants for the RnR. Well Dunn continues to double-team Morton behind the ref’s back We go to break with Well working a chinlock then return with Morton fighting back against Dunn until he is caught with a powerslam. Well Dunn continue to double-team Morton then Well sneaks in to work a chinlock. Morton uses an inverted atomic drop but rams his shoulder against the post on a charge as Gorilla does not understand why Morton did not tag out. Morton avoids an attack in the corner then finally tags out as Gibson runs wild. The RnR hit the double dropkick on Dunn but Cornette breaks up the pin attempt by using his tennis racket. Gibson is pissed then chases Cornette up the aisle and grabs him but is then attacked from behind by the Heavenly Bodies. Cornette beats on Gibson with the racket then leaves as Morton checks on his partner and gets counted out (11:42 shown) **1/2.

Thoughts: Solid match and I know it was done to get heat on the Bodies/RnR feud but losing to Well Dunn in any way will make you a loser to fans unaware of RnR, regardless of the history. I did not care how the finish played out since Gibson was out of the ring for almost a minute and it took too long to set up but again, it was done to get heat for this SMW feud.

Back to the hosts as Fowler said he had no idea this rivalry between the RnR and Cornette was this intense.

We get an ad for the Survivor Series.

The Undertaker defeats Rod Bell from the 10/9 edition of “Superstars.”

Back to the hosts as they talk about the Doink the Clown/Bam Bam Bigelow feud then we go to the Bigelow & Luna Vachon interview with Boni Blackstone from the 10/9 edition of “Superstars.”

Smoking Gunns defeat Brian Costello & Steve Moore from the 10/10 edition of “Wrestling Challenge.”

Tatanka defeats Tom Bennett from the 10/10 edition of “Wrestling Challenge.”

We get a video package on the Intercontinental Battle Royal from the 10/4 edition of “Monday Night RAW”

Adam Bomb defeats Mitch Bishop from the 10/9 edition of “Superstars.”

“King’s Court” with guest Mr. Perfect airs from the 10/10 edition of “Wrestling Challenge.”

Back to the hosts as they talk about next week’s show, which includes the announcement of the Survivor Series main events and news of a debuting wrestler. They then plug the RAW Intercontinental Title match as Fowler gives Heenan cash for RAW tickets then chases after him realizing he made a mistake.

Final Thoughts: The featured match was solid and we saw the RnR make their WWF debut. However, the chemistry between Fowler and Heenan is non-existent as Fowler does some sort of low-rent morning TV show act that gives Heenan nothing to work with thus making the pair useless together.

Anyway, later on today I’ll have the 10/11/93 RAW episode posted.

Comments are disable in preview.
