commercial placement in the WWE
By Scott Keith on May 25, 2019
Do you think a small part of why ratings for the WWE are where they are is because of their placement of commercial breaks mid-match for nearly every single contest on Raw and Smackdown? I mean, does a 6-7 minute match really need need a commercial in the middle? I read somewhere where they believe it is a "hook" to keep viewers watching, but the problem with that theory is that it has to be a match viewers want to continue watching. Nobody is on the edge of their seat wondering how some meaningless tag match involving Baron Corbin and Bobby Lashley will turn out. They used to have long matches before, but not every one had a commercial in the middle. What do you think?
I think it's dumb and an annoyance, but no, it's got nothing to do with ratings declines. They were doing that for years before the downturn ever started.
