Meltzer (am I the only one annoyed when he does this?)

By Scott Keith on April 29, 2019

Whenever his friends, AEW, New Japan, or something/someone else in wrestling that he likes does something good, Meltzer ALWAYS manages to segue that praise into a negative comparison against the WWE.

Most recent case of him doing this would be him praising the Cody and Dustin promos and comparing them to WWE promos. Rather than simply mentioning how incredible they were, he creates a fictional argument with himself by saying those type of promos are going to make WWE promos obsolete.

A few other examples of this would be the Omega interview on Canada's equivalent of The View last month, comparing Kenny's answers to the answers WWE wrestlers give in interviews. When talking about a Tanahashi match a month or two ago, rather than just calling it a great match, he transitioned into making a point of how Seth Rollins and AJ Styles aren't as good at storytelling in the ring. And my personal favourite (exact quote): "That Gargano vs Ciampa match was awesome but it would have been the 5th best match at the Tokyo dome this year."

I don't consider myself a Meltzer-hater or a WWE apologist, but I just find it completely unnecessary and off-putting whenever he does this. Am I the only who feels this way?

Yeah, he never actually said that. I listened to that show this morning and he didn’t say anything about WWE. He said it was better than Cody’s WWE promos, though. Also, Kenny Omega is a different person who is also entitled to his opinion.
