NJPW question

By Scott Keith on April 10, 2019

Hey Scott, not sure how plugged into this stuff you are, but watching ROH’s less than stellar contribution’s to last Saturday’s show has got me thinking. Do you think they’d ever consider ending that relationship with ROH for something else?

As for where they might go, an idea occurred to me: Buy Impact Wrestling. They already know Don Callis, and I believe I remember hearing that Anthem is open to selling the brand and tried to do so to WWE not too long ago.

They could move their base of operations to California and rebrand them New Japan West or something. It could give them their own territory in America that already has production experience and they wouldn’t have to rely on ROH to handle the business side of things like with the G1 Supershow. Kinda like how companies like Sony and Nintendo have American branches.

I have heard that ROH's end of the Super Show did not help the relationship any. I think NJPW made a huge mistake in not going with AEW, although there's still lots of time to rectify that situation.

As for buying Impact, why? There's literally nothing to buy at this point aside from a worthless brand name and a tape library whose any value will be when WWE picks the bones of the dead company clean. NJ's biggest issue in the US right now is that they keep trying to run these US shows and use US talent, when people who are buying tickets want to see Okada v. Tanahashi, not Juice Robinson or whatever guys they're borrowing from ROH in the main event. They're gonna need a new philosophy and fast.
