The Psychology of H

What do you suppose is the logic of these HHH Mania (and Network specials) snorefests, particularly in their length? He has to realize the quality is down, but it's still him always going 20+ minutes at a snail's pace to little crowd enjoyment.
Is it Vince McMahon-like delusion that "he's killing it out there" & HHH is the Mania draw like Taker? Him trying to prove himself still to try to imply he's still "one of the boys"?
If it's honest love for the business & having the best match possible, why not go a good paced high action 10-12 minutes?
I think it’s mostly because the people he idolized growing up as a fan are Flair and Dusty and Race, who worked that style and pace and thus in his mind that’s the “right “ way to do it. Honestly, it would be fine on a shorter show in a different environment, but the fact that he has to do it by putting himself on a high position on the card late in a long show is what really kills it. His opener with John Cena at Blood Money in the Bank was totally fine, for example. HHH should probably remember that Race wasn’t doing 35 minute marathons at his age, and neither should he.
