First time title reigns
By Scott Keith on April 2, 2019
For me personally, first ever title reigns that took a little while (or longer), "moving up the ranks" and paying dues and all that other good stuff…I really enjoyed those stories.
Nobody ever talks about the Headshrinkers or Smoking Gunns or Mankind winning the tag titles for the first time after around two years on TV/being regularly featured. Those guys busted their butts just as much as a Bret Hart winning his first IC title (which everyone remembers fondly, for good reason. Of course he's been tag champ before) after being on the roster for 7 years or so, or as much as Steve Austin winning his first IC title (guess more memorable because of the brutal accident in the ring). Do you agree?
Obligatory "you deserve it" chant!
The Smoking Gunns and Headshrinkers busted their butt as much as Bret Hart? REALLY? That’s what you’re going with? The Gunns first win was a lame duck reign over two guys who had won a tournament the night before while they were out. And then they got squashed by Yokozuna. There’s a reason why it’s forgotten.
