Bret’s Math

By Scott Keith on March 2, 2019

Hey Scott!

Hartkiller here!

So it's well established that WCW was desperately trying to land Bret in 1996 no matter what the head of WCW at the time or common sense may
say otherwise, but I just realized this.

According to Bret, in his book, he met with Bischoff (while appearing on WWF TV to take part in his specifically requested return angle) at the insistence of his agent.
They hit it off well but when Eric asked what Bret wanted to come to WCW, Bret said he wanted one dollar more than Hogan was making. Eric immediately shot that down as an impossible, non-starter, but pleaded with Bret to at least give him a reasonable request he might be able to work with. Bret then came back with the $3 million a year figure, which Eric thought he might be able to do.

If you plug in what Hogan was actually making at the time, Bret asked for one dollar more than Hogan, Eric told him he couldn't do it, Bret countered with a figure over a million more than Hogan was making, and Eric was on board with it.

Call me a crazy troll gimmick, but something doesn't add up there.

So your point is…what? That WCW didn't make him an offer that big?
