The Princess Rant for WWE NXT September, 16, 2015

Taped from Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida

Hosted by Rich Brennan, Corey Graves AND Byron Saxton

I think this is the last week of tapings for this cycle so we get the return of Bayley and another DIY match.

Tyler Breeze vs. Adam Rose

Rose comes out with no entrance music and announces that “the WWE Universe took a big, hot steaming poop on the Adam Rose party” and now he says it’s his turn to take a big steaming poop on the NXT party and there is no more fun allowed. Well that sucks.

Before the match, however, Bull Dempsey comes out and cuts a pretty amateurish promo and says he’s going to beat him up and it won’t be an accident. Breeze says it was an accident the day Bull was born. Oh snap. And he’s about to wrestle so Bull needs to take a hike. Bull asks Rose if he’ll step aside and Rose slaps him so Bull beats him up. Breeze tries to jump Bull from behind but he gets roughed up before leaving. We get no match here. Bull is not very good at all.

— Breeze decides that Bull will get a match next week.

Tye Dillinger vs. Danny Burch

Burch, who was Martin Stone two weeks ago, has officially changed into his current alias. Dillinger with an abdominal stretch and some joint manipulation before Burch escapes and goes to a headlock. Dillinger escapes the headlock and avoids a back drop on a rope sequence so he poses and reminds everyone he’s a perfect 10. Burch comes back with a couple of European uppercuts and he mocks Dillinger. Hammerlock hold but Dillinger fights out with a clothesline and a side Russian legsweep. He drops the kneepad and single knee facebreaker ends it. It’s a different move than the two versions of the Tye Breaker he did in 2016 and 2017. Quick and inoffensive *1/2

— Rhyno and Baron Corbin are not worried about being upset by Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano. Corbin says they’re not looking past them, they are looking straight through them.

— ASUKA IS COMING NEXT WEEK but just to sign a contract.

Apollo Crews vs. Solomon Crowe

Crews wins a lock up so Crowe decides to try a waist lock and a headlock takedown. Crews with a takedown of his own and when Crews offers a hand the second time Crowe kicks it away. Crowe with a forearm but Crews hits a dropkick and suplexes Crowe while Crowe was in a sitting position, it’s more impressive than it reads. Crews tries a baseball slide but Crowe uses the ring apron to trap Crews and pounds away! Holy shit that was clever and someone on the main roster needs to steal it. Back in the ring and Crowe pounds away on Crews in the corner. Snapmare and a kick to the back but no cover, instead he uses a wicked forearm rest hold. Crews fights out but gets dropped with a clothesline and Crowe gets a chinlock now. Crews powers out of that and Crowe tries to change things up with a sleeper but Crews counters with a jawbreaker. Running axe handle and a corner splash from Crews sets up a nasty flying lariat. Crews with a jumping enziguri, press slam and standing moonsault splash ends this one. Good hard-hitting match here ***. I think this was the end of the line for Crowe as he was back on the indies as Sami Callihan a few weeks later.

— Gargano and Ciampa said no one’s given them a chance but they shocked the world last week and they’ll do it again.

— Dana Brooke and Emma join forces say it’s time to shake things up in the women’s division. Their little Mean Girls shtick had plenty of potential.

— Sasha Banks makes her arrival.

— Kyle Edwards (who?) updates the Dusty Rhodes Classic tournament from the WWE Control Center. The Hype Bros defeated Noah Ketoa and Alexander Wolfe with the Hyperyder in a first round match at a house show in Florida. The Vaudevillians defeated Blake & Murphy with the whirling dervish to close out the rest of the first round.

Dusty Rhodes Classic Quarterfinal: Rhyno & Baron Corbin vs. Tommaso Ciampa & Johnny Gargano

Ciampa and Rhyno lock up and Ciampa with chops and a running forearm but Rhyno responds with an elbow. Ciampa rallies back with a clothesline. Tag and a drop toe, double stomp/running knee combo. Corbin charges and Gargano sends him through the ropes and follows with a flying press. Rhyno tries to catch Gargano coming back in but he gets dumped and Ciampa hits a cross body on both guys. Ciampa sends Rhyno in the corner and soon-to-be-DIY with a double corner kick. Rhyno finally makes the tag and Corbin catches Ciampa with a spinning slam as we go to a break.

— The debut of Table for 3. Tomorrow night after Smackdown. Gotta catch that one.

And we’re back with Corbin choking Ciampa and a tag to Rhyno. Knee drop from Rhyno but Ciampa with a high knee. He tries for the tag but Rhyno just powers him back into the corner and tags in Corbin who does a bunch of stomps. Tag back to Rhyno and a forearm sends Ciampa stumbling in the corner. Rhyno goes for a superplex but Ciampa fights back and hits a missile dropkick. Both guys tag out but Gargano with the hot tag and he gets a spinning elbow and a roll through kick on Corbin. Slingshot DDT gets two as Ciampa and Rhyno fight in the other corner. Rhyno dumps Ciampa but misses the Gore so Gargano hits a pele kick on Corbin for a two count. He tries another charge and Corbin catches him with End of Days to end this match. Good stuff here. ***1/4

— The Vaudevillians talk about winning the Dusty Rhodes tournament is nice but doing it as tag champions would be splendid and gratifying. Alexa Bliss interrupts the interview and says that Blake and Murphy are invoking their rematch clause next week at the start of the NXT Texas tour.

— Nia Jax is not here yet, but she’s coming soon so just be patient.

— Bull Dempsey and Tyler Breeze is official for next week.

Bayley vs. Sarah Dobson

Bayley’s first entrance in Full Sail as champion is as adorable as ever as nearly hugs everyone with front row seats before bringing Izzy into the ring more celebrating. Bayley really worked in NXT. We can debate for days why the same gimmick hasn’t taken over the main roster but it was gold in NXT where she could connect with the smaller crowds. Dobson is better known these days as Sarah Logan, here she is about 15 pounds lighter and wearing makeup?!?! She actually looks kind of cute. Dobson goes for the power right away and pounds on Bayley with forearms and a headbutt. Bayley tries to rally but gets sent to the ropes and Dobson with a cartwheel knee drop. Dobson sends Bayley into the back and pounds away. Dobson with a face lock and a body scissors submission but Bayley gets to her feet and sends Dobson into the corner three times. Axe bomber from Bayley and corner elbow. Snap suplex and Bayley to belly finishes this. Short but not bad **.

Bayley grabs the mic but before she can speak it’s BOSS TIME. Sasha has her own mic and says she’s not here to belittle Bayley but to congratulate her. Sasha said she’s been hearing about how they stole the show in Brooklyn, had the match of the year and the greatest women’s match in the company’s history. And that’s nice for everyone except for the Boss. She didn’t come to put on great matches but to be the best. And she’ll admit that at Takeover Bayley was better but that was just one night. Bayley said it’s her time right now and if Sasha’s here asking for a rematch she is ready to go.

Sasha says that’s not good enough. She wants to send a message and prove she’s the best women’s wrestler. Bayley asks Sasha if she wants a stipulation. Does she want a 2-out-of-3-falls match? Sasha says she wants to beat Bayley not once, not twice but again and again and again and again until everyone realizes that fairy tales don’t have a happy ending. Crowd starts chanting “Iron Woman” and when William Regal comes out and announces the match will be the main event and it will be a 30-minute Iron Woman match. The crowd approves. Regal could barely hid his smile as he was making the announcement and Bayley and Sasha could barely hide their emotions as it was a very historic moment. History is written by the winners so Sasha and Bayley might not ever get the credit they deserve but their match in Brooklyn changed the game for women’s wrestling and their program is one of the reasons why Ronda and Becky (and Charlotte) might go on last at Wrestlemania. As for this segment, Sasha was VERY impressive on the mic. Bayley is always a little awkward but it worked with her ultra-babyface gimmick.

(BTW HHH giving them the news of their match and main event slot on the “Breaking Ground” series was probably the highlight of that show. I think it’s the second to last episode of the first run.)

Bottom Line: Very good show with two good matches and a historic announcement.
