Cena/Lesnar 2012

What was the logic behind having Brock Lesnar job to John Cena clean in his first match back with the WWE at the "Extreme Rules" PPV in 2012? Was it just Vince exacting punishment on Lesnar for living the company 8 years prior, as he has been know to do with other returning talent from time to time?
It was more Vince testing him to make sure he would do business if asked, although we now know that Brock will pretty much lose on command to anyone for the right amount of money. But at the time it was a bit of a concern.
