WWF Wrestling Challenge – December 20th, 1992

By Brian Bayless on December 16, 2018

December 20, 1992

From the Erie Civic Center in Erie, PA

Your hosts are Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan

Undertaker defeats Duane Gill in a match first shown on the 12/14 edition of “Prime Time Wrestling.”

WWF Special Report with Lord Alfred Hayes. Same as Superstars where they replayed the key points of last week’s Bret Hart interview that was interrupted by Ric Flair & Razor Ramon until Mr. Perfect ran out for the save.

Matthew Williams & Dave Morgan vs. The Headshrinkers w/ Afa

The clown is messing with fans in the crowd. Samu beats on Morgan for a bit then The Headshriners hit Williams with a double facebuster before Samu hits a flying headbutt for the win (2:06).

Thoughts: Another impressive squash match win from The Headshrinkers as they are clearly the most exciting heel team in the company. And in the company in general for that matter.

John Rechner vs. Marty Jannetty

Rechner elbows Marty but after that is caught with a monkey flip. Marty works the arm then we hear from Shawn in an insert promo telling Marty he does not believe in the spirit of giving and that Marty is not getting the Intercontinental Title for Christmas. Rechner lands a few punches but ducks his head and is hit with a mat slam then Marty uses a flying fist drop for the win (2:29).

Thoughts: More hype for the Intercontinental Title feud as Marty gets the win over the future Balls Mahoney.

Slick promo from “Superstars” airs.

Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Mike Holland

Bigelow hits Holland with a flying shoulder tackle then beats him down. Bigelow now works the arm as the announcers call him a miserable man then hits a delayed vertical suplex and soon after that uses a diving headbutt for the win (2:23).

Thoughts: Bigelow is being built up on commentary as he is expected to have a feud soon.

Chris Anderson & Gus Kantarakis vs. Nasty Boys

The clown is back in the aisle now. The Nasty Boys beat down Kantarakis and even use the Pit Stop. Anderson tags in and gets beat down himself then the Nasty Boys put him away with a running powerslam/flying elbow drop combo (2:25). After the match, the clown gives the Nasty Boys presents which include replicas of the Tag Team Titles and photos of Money Inc. The clown then laughs hysterically afterwards.

Thoughts: More jokes from the clown as the Nasty Boys remain the #1 contenders for the Tag Team Titles.

Royal Rumble report airs.

Razor Ramon vs. John Paul

Razor beats down Paul as the announcers talk about a Bret Hart article inside of “WWF Magazine” as Heenan said the belt is made for either Razor or Flair, not Bret. Razor now stretches out Paul as Heenan says Mr. Perfect will miss the Rumble due to an accident. Razor stays in control then finally puts Paul away with a Razor’s Edge as Heenan claims that Perfect is illiterate (2:46).

Thoughts: They were hyping up the Razor/Perfect feud here and the World Heavyweight Title storyline too.

Final Thoughts: The World Heavyweight Title picture and Royal Rumble PPV are the main focus on TV but once again its firmly the “B” show with all of the main segments from Superstars.
