Alternate history question:
Iron Sheik takes Verne's money, breaks Hulk leg & then walks out with the title. What happens next?
I assume WWF's first move is to sue AWA out of existence immediately. No way any of that is legal. Sheik's going to jail too.
But what of WWF? With no Hulk, do they go national? Is it Snukamania (And jeez, what happens when sh*t hits the fan on THAT guy?)? Do you see someone out else taking the reign? An up-&-coming Macho?
Or do they just not go national? Do the territories survive?
Feel free to play this out as long as you'd like.
That story is such horseshit. Since when was IRON SHEIK a feared shooter? Anyway, Verne would never have tried that, because deep down he was too much of a coward to really take on Vince, just like all the other regional promoters who talked big and then backstabbed each other into oblivion when Vince threatened them.
Anyway, Hulk's broken leg would have healed up enough to come back within a few months and then history proceeds on track again. Unless Sheik suddenly had a way to fix the AWA's business model along with his deadly leg-breaking skills? Didn't think so.
