WWF Wrestling Challenge – October 25th, 1992
By Brian Bayless on November 26, 2018
October 25, 1992
From the Keystone Centre in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada
Your hosts are Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan
We first see the clip of Bret Hart capturing the World Heavyweight Title.
In action this week are Razor Ramon, High Energy, Shawn Michaels, and Kamala.
Tatanka vs. Red Tyler
Tatanka works over Tyler as Gorilla calls Tatanka a product of ICOPRO. Tyler cheap shots Tatanka then pokes the eye but Tatanka comes back with a suplex then a clothesline and runs wild until the Samoan Drop gets the win (3:21).
Thoughts: Tatanka’s winning streak continues to get played up and they make sure to mention that his physique is attributed to ICOPRO.
Kamala w/ Harvey Whippleman & Kimchee vs. Brian Jewel
Kamala roughs up Jewel as the announcers talks about his Casket Match at Survivor Series. Kamala then hits a double chop then a splash for the win (1:36). After the match, Kamala walks up the aisle and stares at himself on the video wall but the wall then turns to Paul Bearer with a coffin as Kamala runs back down and escapes through the crowd.
Thoughts: Once again we see Kamala scared shitless over the Undertaker and the coffin.
High Energy vs. Bob St. Laurent & Bill Lyons
High Energy beats on Lyons to start. St. Laurent tags and Owen puts him in a headlock then High Energy use some quick tags before the lifting missile dropkick into the jackknife cover gets the win (1:55).
Thoughts: HighMore Energy is still nothing more than fodder for pants jokes.
The Survivor Series Report from “Superstars” airs.
Money Inc. vs. “Jumping” Jim Brunzell & Dave Siegfrits
This match is joined in progress. DiBiase and Brunzell work a fast-paced sequence as Heenan tells us that Bret vs. Shawn at the Survivor Series will not be for the title because Flair will once again be champion before the PPV. Brunzell dropkicks IRS for a two count then locks on a sleeper but DiBiase makes the save. DiBiase tags back into the match but misses an elbow drop then tags out. DiBiase beats on Siegfrits and Money Inc. cut the ring in half as the announcers talk about the Tag Team Title situation and the title match next week. . Money Inc. stays in control then finally put Siegfrits away with the Million Dollar Dream (4:06).
Thoughts: This was all about the Tag Team Title situation here. The full match was shown on “Prime Time Wrestling.”
Shawn Michaels w/ Sensational Sherri vs. Kevin Kruger
Heenan says that Shawn deserves a title shot and will have a great match with Bret but that Flair is the #1 contender. Shawn works over Kruger then lands several punches as the camera zooms in on Sherri’s face. Shawn outsmarts Kruger then hits a super kick and is about to pick him up for the teardrop suplex but lets Kruger fall down and then covers for the win (2:24).
Thoughts: They hyped up Shawn as the #1 contender and how he’d have a great match against Bret. We also saw Shawn using the super kick as the finish instead of a teardrop suplex to get it over as a credible move.
Ultimate Maniacs interview from Superstar airs.
Razor Ramon vs. Steve Gillespie
Razor bullies the ring attendant then beats the crap out of Gillespie. El Matador is an insert promo talking about facing Razor next week then the Razor’s Edge finishes off Gillespie (2:28).
Thoughts: Razor gets a name opponent next week in a featured match against El Matador.
Next week, the Natural Disasters will defend their Tag Team Titles as Heenan says its Money Inc. Also, El Matador vs. Razor Ramon. And in action will be British Bulldog and Papa Shango.
Final Thoughts: Next week we get not only a Tag Team Title match but another featured match between Razor and Matador as the road to Survivor Series continues.
