Vince McMahon is your host. Panelists include: Hillbilly Jim, Jim Duggan, Mr. Perfect, and Bobby Heenan
“Terrific” Terry Taylor vs. El Matador
Gorilla Monsoon and Lord Alfred Hayes are your announcers for the Prime Time exclusive matches. This match took place at the 10/12 “Superstars” tapings in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. It’s also featured on the “WWF Wrestling Grudge Matches” release for Coliseum Home Video. The match starts off with both men fighting over a lockup then it turns into a shoving match. Matador hits a pair of arm drags then Taylor quickly ducks out for a breather. Taylor returns but Matador reverses an arm wringer then continues to work the arm. Matador uses a backslide for a nearfall then goes back to the arm. Matador gets two with a crossbody but right after that gets yanked face-first into the corner. Taylor uses a few knee smashes then a jawbreaker that gets two. Taylor now uses a reverse chinlock as the announcers talk about Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels at the Survivor Series. Taylor continues to work a chinlock then cuts off a comeback with a thumb to the eye. Matador counters a suplex with a small package that gets two but Taylor goes right back on offense. Matador powers out of a chinlock then hits a shoulder block but tries it again and gets shoved outside. Matador slingshots back in with a sunset flip for a two count but Taylor comes back with a clothesline for a nearfall. Taylor then hits a reverse neckbreaker for a nearfall and heads up to the middle rope for a splsah but Matador got his knees up. Gorilla mentions there is a ten minute time-limit to this match as Matador runs wild. Matador signals for the El Paso de Muerte but the bell rings after he hits the move as the match is ruled a time-limit draw (10:20) **.
Thoughts: Dull match until the end when it picked up but these two are clearly lower midcarders at this point and is obvious that Taylor is not getting any sort of push in his return.
High Energy defeats Bill Lyons & Bob St. Laurent in a match first shown on the 10/25 edition of “Wrestling Challenge.”
Yokozuna w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Joey Maggs
This is Yokozuna’s WWF TV debut. The match took place at the 10/13 “Wrestling Challenge” tapings in Regina, Saskatchewan. Yokozuna tosses Maggs then drills him with an uranage. Yokozuna follows with a leg drop then yells at the crowd as Fuji gives instructions. Yokozuna then hits a thrust kick and an avalanche before using a sit-down splash from the middle rope for the win (2:46).
Thoughts: Yoko looked really good here. He was huge and moved around quite fast for a man his size as he still had his agility at this point.
Back to the studio as they show us about five minutes from Randy Savage vs. Shawn Michaels in Europe to hype the ’92 World Tour release from Coliseum Home Video. The set also had a standee holding several new Coliseum Home Video titles as they are pushing them with the Holidays approaching.
Natural Disasters defeat Tom Stone & Bill Jodoin from the 10/24 edition of “Superstars.”
Survivor Series Report from this week’s syndicated TV airs.
The Nailz and Undertaker confrontation from the 10/24 edition of “Superstars” airs.
Undertaker defeats Jason Helton from the 10/24 edition of “Superstars.”
We go back to the panel as they talk about Kamala vs. Undertaker Coffin Match at Survivor Series. Heenan does not think Undertaker can close the lid on Kamala as Duggan & Hillbilly point out how Kamala is petrified of both Undertaker and the coffin.
A strange moment here as we are in Sean Mooney’s bedroom during his honeymoon. Mooney wakes up and yells at the camera, saying Heenan is behind this.
Rick Martel defeats Butch Banks from the 10/24 edition of “Superstars.”
The Ultimate Maniacs interview from the 10/24 edition of “Superstars” airs.
Back to the panel as they discuss the Survivor Series main event then we go live via satellite to Flair, who is in North Carolina. Flair makes fun of Duggan & Hillbilly for never getting close to being a champion. Vince asks Flair how he will function as a team with Razor as Flair says Razor is the toughest man in the WWF, Perfect the greatest manager, and Heenan the greatest advisor. Flair talks about not being the biggest but rather the best and brings up his Royal Rumble win as an example. Not much of an interview and it turned into the panel screaming over each other, which is getting really tired.
Papa Shango vs. Crush
This also took place at the 10/12 “Superstars” tapings and its featured on the “WrestleFest ’93” Coliseum Home Video release. Shango attacks Crush from behind before the bell. He stays on the attack as Gorilla mentions how there are rumors of Flair having equilibrium problems due to a blockage in his ear. That was actually a legitimate injury for Flair. Crush finally fights back then Shango ducks out for a breather. Shango returns and wants a test-of-strength then brings Crush to his knees with a knee to the gut. Crush gets up but Shango takes him back down with a knee smash. Crush is able to take Shango out from the corner with a monkey flip but misses a corner splash and gets taken down with a throat thrust. Shango stomps away but Crush fights back and hits a slam. Crush catches Shango with a boot then hits a flying clothesline that gets two. Shango gets dumped outside and gets knocked out again soon after that but grabs his voodoo stick and shoots sparks at Crush’s face for the DQ (6:44) 1/4.*.
Thoughts: The match absolutely sucked but these guys were still getting pushed on TV so neither man could take a pin. Shango is not able to effectively portray this character in the ring and Crush is athletic and huge but certainly not someone capable of carrying a match.
Razor Ramon defeats Steve Gillespie from the 10/25 edition of “Wrestling Challenge.”
Back to the panel as Duggan & Hillbilly tell Heenan & Perfect that the Ultimate Maniacs have a greater bond than Razor & Flair but Heenan brings up the Ultimate Maniacs history of fighting each other as a counterpoint. And it was valid.
Money Inc. defeats Jim Brunzell & Dave Siegfrits from the 10/25 edition of “Wrestling Challenge.”
Tatanka defeats Red Tyler from the 10/25 edition of “Wrestling Challenge.”
Next week, we will see the Natural Disasters vs. Money Inc. for the Tag Team Titles. Also, Kamala vs. Tatanka. We hear a crash then Jameson comes in with a Randy Savage mask for Halloween then takes it off to reveal another match then Jameson shows his face. Jameson runs away after Heenan tesaed him and after that Jameson takes Duggan’s foam 2×4 and threatens to hit Heenan.
Final Thoughts: Not much of a show this week but it was Yokozuna’s first televised WWF match and he looked great. The show continues to struggle in the ratings and this panel format is dated and ineffective. Hillbilly Jim is useless in his role and all we get is Duggan yelling at Perfect & Heenan along with some bad comedy revolving around Jameson.
