bryan and the hyperbaric chamber
By Scott Keith on November 23, 2018
how great is daniel bryan using the hyperbaric chamber as a heel origin story!? that's some supervilain shit right there and let's him become as unhinged as possible without it seeming out of character. if we don't get an actual promo from him recovering in one of those things it's gonna all be a waste.
anyway, is it fair to say this is exactly what bryan needed? i fully expect him to be the biggest babyface in the company again within a year after some great character work in the mean time. and the great thing is by going to such a ridiculous explanation, they have an easy way to turn him face again when he recovers or whatever.
the only thing i'm left wondering is who do they have him defend against at mania? shane would be hilarious because of the crowd reactions but, realistically, they have to find someone who the fans are at least willing to go 50/50 with against heel bryan. who is there? rey? rusev? or do they pull a part-timer out of the bag like angle or shawn? my worst fear is a face-turned miz or a returning bray. it's a shame they don't have balor or super-babyface non-injured sami zayn on smackdown to take him down.
After watching the Brock match, I'm worried it's going to be his greatest enemy who gets the last laugh: Head and neck injury. I actually don't think he's a long term guy as champion, though. I feel like they're going to get the belt off him at the Rumble so they can go with whatever the "real" plan is, although I have no idea what that might be at this point.
