Apropos your glorious Team Challenge review, I’m reading Death of the Territories by Tim Hornbaker (fab read, BTW. Pick it up if you can.) Here’s Crazy Uncle Verne on the WWF’s direction circa 1988:

“It makes me sick, makes me want to vomit. It’s too far out, tongue in cheek, they look down on the sport. They make a mockery of the whole gol-dang thing.”

A year later he unleashed the Team Challenge Series.

And he used “gol-dang.”
