If the Fall 97 plans were to main event Ground Zero and Badd Blood with Taker/Shawn matches… why not have Taker retain vs Bret at SummerSlam. Especially knowing Bret was soon leaving.
Bret could scream conspiracy. Feud with Patriot, Austin, Vader until Survivor Series where he enters the conquering hero to take the title from hated rival Shawn. Match ends in DX/Hart Foundation brawl, double DQ, Bret leaves happy no screw job.
What was the point of putting the title on Bret that summer?
People have been trying to figure that one out for 20 years. Vince HAD to know he was going to breach the contract by Summerslam.
