WWF Superstars of Wrestling – August 15th, 1992

By Brian Bayless on November 1, 2018

August 15, 1992

From the Worcester Centrum in Worcester, MA

Your hosts are Vince McMahon and Mr. Perfect

Big Bossman vs. Skinner

No entrance here for Skinner. Vince says we will find out what kind of long-term damage Nailz did to Bossman during this match. Skinner attacks Bossman from behind and hammers away. Skinner then bails after Bossman reversed an Irish whip but Bossman heads out and fires away. Back inside, Bossman drops Skinner with a back elbow smash then Skinner rolls back inside. Vince hypes a “WWF Magazine” article on Nailz as Skinner puts his alligator claw in his shirt then uses it to hit Bossman in the throat. Skinner now uses a front facelock then breaks to use the claw again. Skinner chokes out Bossman with his claw then puts it around the post and taunts the fans as Vince says it was a mistake for Bossman to face someone like Skinner. Skinner uses more choking but runs into a knee during a charge in the corner. Bossman fires up then hits a sidewalk slam for the win 1/4* (3:40).

Thoughts: Most of this was Skinner on offense and man was it dull. The point of the match though was to have Bossman beat a name opponent to establish that he is in fact back at full strength in order to get revenge against Nailz.

Now, we have the hosts run down the show. Mr. Perfect now tells us that the Ultimate Warrior has also been calling him all day and night just like Savage in order to have his services at WrestleMania. In action are Razor Ramon, The Undertaker, Kamala, and Money Inc. Plus, an interview with Randy Savage and more!

Kamala w/ Harvey Whippleman & Kimchee vs. Joe Steel

Vince puts over Kamala as being a savage and brutal. Kamala beats on Steel as Vince says Undertaker might end up in a pot and served to Kamala. Perfect talks about Warrior and Savage calling up and offering tons of money for his services then Kamala finally puts Steel away with a splash (2:29). After the match, Kamala heads over the guardrail to leave but Kimchee is able to bring him back. Kamala is finally directed towards the aisle as Vince says that Kamala is on the “confused side” then the bell rings for our next match and its The Undertaker. Undertaker and Kamala walk by each other in the aisle as Kamala is held back while making noises.

Thoughts: They teased a confrontation between Undertaker and Kamala here and I guess tried to make Kamala a major threat to the Undertaker by having him act like a “savage” but it did not seem to work on the fans in attendance.

The Undertaker w/ Paul Bearer vs. Chris Duffy

Vince puts over Kamala vs. Undertaker as an awesome match up for SummerSlam. Undertaker catches Duffy with a chokeslam and stays in control until hitting the Tombstone for the win (1:20). After the match, Perfect leaves the booth saying he has to take care of some business.

Thoughts: More hype for Undertaker/Kamala and with the most interesting there here was Perfect leaving the booth to go do something.

We get a new ad for Bodystars. A much more mellow ad with Sean Mooney doing the voice over. There was no mention of the WBF and the ad featuerd generic models and athletes. At least that WBF crap will no longer be all over these shows but get ready for more ICOPRO mentions.

Gene Okerlund brings Randy Savage out to the interview platform. Okerlund asks Savage about Perfect’s accusations of secret negotiations with the Ultimate Warrior and himself. Savage says what if he never had spoken with Perfect but now that Okerlund mentioned how Warrior is “shaken to his core” then he’d be stupid to deny these allegations. Perfect comes out and says the best man will have him in his corner at SummerSlam and calls himself the greatest manager in the WWF. Perfect tells Savage that Warrior made him an offer he may not be able to refuse. Perfect then says he will be at SummerSlam no matter what and that the ante for his services at SummerSlam are now sky high. Perfect leaves as Savage says when he walks down the aisle at SummerSlam he will be the champion and when he leaves he’ll still be champion. Savage then says when it comes to negotiating with Perfect, maybe he is or maybe he is not. I love how this storyline has everyone playing mind games with each other and there is enough doubt to make you think either Savage or Warrior could use Perfect’s services.

Tim McNeavey & Jerry Seavey vs. Money Inc. w/ Jimmy Hart

IRS says its time for all tax cheats who filed for late extensions to pay up. Vince talks about Money Inc. vs. Legion of Doom at SummerSlam as Perfect returns to the booth as Vince says he is stirring things up like no one has before. IRS suplexes McNeavey a few times as we get an insert promo of Paul Ellering & Rocco that was just awful. IRS stays in control and hits Seavey with a clothesline then tags out so DiBiase can use the Million Dollar Dream for the win (2:03). Perfect says the winner of LoD vs. Money Inc. will likely crown the #1 contenders for the Tag Team Titles.

Thoughts: The news is that the LoD vs. Money Inc. match will probably determine who gets the next shot at the belts but the Tag Team Division is really dead at the moment so its tough to get excited.

SummerSlam Report with Gene Okerlund. We hear from Diana Hart-Smith as she cries about how the match between her husband and brother is tearing her family apart. Also, Sensational Sherri tells us that both Shawn Michaels and Rick Martel have agreed not to hit each other in the face during their match, which makes Sherri giddy.

Jim Powers vs. Razor Ramon

Powers gets an entrance here as he comes out to “Crank it Up.” Razor beats on Powers in the corner but misses a charge then Powers works the arm. Razor pokes Powers in the eye and hammers away before hitting a chokeslam. Perfect tells Vince that Razor is “machismo” and puts him over a ton as Powers tries to fight back but gets decked then Razor hits a super back suplex and finishes Powers off with a crucifix powerbomb (2:30).

Thoughts: Razor puts away a more established opponent rather than standard enhancement talent here. They are also pushing the machismo stuff hard on commentary.

Next week in action are Crush, Nailz, and Bret Hart. Plus, featured match of Repo Man & Beverly Brothers vs. Jim Duggan & The Bushwhackers

Final Thoughts: We had a new twist in the SummerSlam main event storyline that was good but the featured match was lousy. The Kamala/Undertaker feud was focused on too but did not hype it up enough to get people to care as we are just two weeks away until the PPV.
