Impact, Indies, and Insanity: The Night Thread, October 25, 2018
By Andy PG on October 25, 2018
A reminder to those of you who watch the show (so, basically Tommy Hall and that’s it): Impact is moving to 10PM tonight. Matches include Johnny Impact defending against Rey Fenix, Su Yung against Keira Hogan, and Rohit Raju against Gama Singh for some reason.
Your NFL Game of the Week of the Day is Miami/Houston. There’s a good collection of college football appetizer games for you, with Georgia Tech against Virginia Tech, Baylor facing West Virginia, and Appalachian State against Georgia Southern. Those games are on ESPN, FS1, and ESPNU respectively.
After the jump, independent wrestling!
All right, let’s take a look at what we got in the world of wrestling outside the bright lights of WWE and Impact:
- AAW will be in the Chicago area tomorrow night for Dia De Los Luchadores. The main event is David Starr and Eddie Kingston defending the AAW Tag Titles against AR Fox and Myron Reed. Rey Fenix will face Sammy Guevara in a battle of Lucha Underground stars, while Maxwell Jacob Friedman will take on LA Park.
- Action Wrestling is back in Tyrone, Georgia tomorrow night for a charity show. In attendance are Arik Royal, The Carnies, The Lynch Mob, and AC Mack, and your main event is Cain Justice taking on Fred Yehi.
- Super Viernes from CMLL airs on Friday night on Claro as always. Our highlight is a #1 Contender’s 12-man Cibernetico, with the winner getting a future title match against Sanson. In addition, Los Ingobernables have a trios match against Caristico/Valiente/Diamante.
- PCW Ultra invades LA on Friday night for Possessed. Penta El 0M puts the PCW title on the line against PJ Black, Tessa Blanchard defends the women’s title against Priscilla Kelly, and the tag titles are on the line as Warbeast faces the creepy team of Abyss and Sinn Bodhi.
- Saturday afternoon, CHIKARA presents La Loteria Letal in Philadelphia. 16 people have entered this one-day, 8-team tournament, and no one has any idea who their partners are, but if a team can gel enough to win the tournament, they will by design get a tag title shot at a future show. Meanwhile, Dasher Hatfield defends the Interim championship against Sloan Caprice and Danjerhawk defends the Young Lions Cup against Still Life with Apricots and Pears (yes, that’s a wrestler name — it’s CHIKARA, don’t ask).
- Sunday night brings us the gift that keeps on giving — AAA on Twitch! Heroes Inmortales comes to us with a main event hair vs. hair match between Rey Wagner and Jeff Jarrett, while the AAA Tag Titles are on the line in the undercard as Rey Escorpion and Texano Jr defend against Bandido/Flamita and Andrew Everett/DJ Z. Plus the Antonio Pena Cup will take place, and this year it’s a 13-way match.
- PROGRESS Chapter 77 comes to us from London on Sunday (sold out, sorry). WALTER defends the PROGRESS title against Zack Sabre Jr., while Timothy Thatcher faces Tyler Bate on the undercard.
- Seeing as how Evolution is on Sunday, WWR is piggybacking off of that by running Long Island Sunday afternoon with WWR vs. The World. Matches include Jordynne Grace taking on Jazz, the Alpha Female against Kimber Lee, Harlow O’Hara facing Thunder Rosa, and Shazza McKenzie taking on LuFisto.
- And because Halloween will happen before the next Indie Roundup, let’s talk about Beyond running a show on Halloween night called It’s Alive! Friedman will face PCO, Stokeley Hathaway takes on Ultramantis Black, and Tracy Williams/Wheeler YUTA will face David Starr and a mystery partner.
Bring the insanity!
