Attention Span

Just read your Survivor Series 1994 rant and your comment struck me about how Bob Backlund seemed like such a blast from the past at the time versus how modern WWE has basically been the same. Social media, TV; whatever you want attribute it to, boggles the mind how as a kid growing up in the 90s, the Hogan-Savage era (not counting WCW with lack of coverage until latter decade) felt light years away. Ya think about how Austin 3:16 blew up the business but really only lasted 6 years (generous) and Reigns has been desperately trying to get over for half that time and it feels like nothing has happened.
Then I realize because nothing has happened. More TV writers, please!
It's kind of crazy, isn't it? We've essentially been watching the same product since about 2009 (if we're using the HD changeover as the cutoff) and just think about all the stuff that happened in a decade back in the day. The difference between 1980 and 1990 alone is mind-blowing and would be completely unrecognizable to a fan who left in 80 and came back in 90. But someone who left in 09 and came back today would be like "Oh, there's Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre and Jeff Hardy and Randy Orton, I remember them."
